It is a Yahoo! 8-player KEEPER league, H2H standard 5x5 cats. The deal is...
I GET: 1b Mark Teix 2b Brandon Phillips
I GIVE: 1b Justin Morneau 2b Robinson Cano
i am in 3rd place and 1 1/2 games out of first place and playing the worst team this week. If you compare the stats, my side kills the other side, but given the history of both teix and morneau, now could be a good time to flop them as Morneau historically collaspes in the 2nd half and teix historically mashes in the 2nd half. Also, I think I could use Phillips' SB longterm whereas Cano doesn't give me any. Also, since Cano's monster 8 HR april, he has only hit 3 in may, and 2 so far in june, although like Teix, Cano is historically a great hitter in the second half.
Essentially I think this might be a great buy-low on what I'm getting, and a great sell-high on what i'm giving up. Interested in what everyone thinks...here is my roster:
C Brian McCann 1b Justin Morneau 2b Robinson Cano 3b Pablo Sandoval SS Ben Zobrist OF Matt Kemp OF Matt Holliday OF Torii Hunter UTIL OF Jay Bruce UTIL 1b, OF Nick Swisher
BN 3b David Freese BN SS Alcides Escobar DL 1b Kendry Morales DL 3b Aramis Ramirez
SP Matt Cain SP Clayton Kershaw RP Ryan Franklin RP Brad Lidge P Matt Capps P Bobby Jenks P Manny Corpas BN Cole Hamels BN Phil Hughes BN Shaun Marcum BN Ervin Santana BN Clayton Richard BN DL Chad Billingsley
As always, leave a link and I will help you out as well, thanks.
Thanks for the help on my thread! And I would NOT do this trade, unless you are looking for a boatload of HR's (which morneau and cano provide already), Phillips is great, however cano is the best 2B in the league. Batting .371 with 47 RBI's!? And the thing about Cano is that he isn't going to go down -- hes bound to keep his average above .330, or even raise his average. As for tex and morneau, I would go with tex here, though morneau may start to heat up again. On your team, it looks like there are only a couple who are batting over .300, and cano REALLY helps with that. If morneau steps it up again, this deal is heavily inbalanced. However, if tex can bat over .270 and phillips keeps his streak going, it's balanced. For the whole season, I say keep the team how it is.
I agree also and would not do this deal. Yeah Morneau might come down a little but I would much rather have Cano than Phillips. And if I was offering Cano/Morneau I waould want more in return.
no don't do it. I know what you mean about Morneau slowing down and TEex picking it up in the 2nd half, but the difference in Cano/Phillips is pretty big IMO. I would stand pat.
Thanks for the advice--I like the trade, but I think you could get something else out of him--maybe a starter or swapping another position that helps you out--just my opinion.
