Ryan Doumit Advice WHIR

Postby Kimbos Beard » Mon Jun 14, 2010 10:22 am

12 team 5x5 roto redraft.

Okay so I have Carlos Santana as my catcher. Doumit was my catcher prior and I moved him to the bench. I put him on the trading block, and tried to propose a couple of trades that went nowhere, trades are not that easy in my league.

My thoughts were that I should probably just drop Doumit and pick something else up (A SP or RP). Is this the right move. I assume that Santana will get the full playing time (with a day off here and there) so Doumit really has no use on my team

C- Santana
1B - Fielder
2B - Phillips
SS - A. Ramirez
3B - Wright
OF - Bay, Granderson, CarGo
Util - Pablo
Bnch - Markakis DL - Beltran

SP - Wainwright, Cain, Billingsley, Pelfrey, Marcum, Latos, Zambrano
RP - Aardsma, Gregg, Capps, Rauch

thanks for your help in mine.

I really would advise not to drop doumit...>pitt just brought up a few young farm guys and the team might start putting up some runs. I think doumit is way to valuable not to be able to make a trade. i say sit tight and deal him....or at least see what santana does while he sits on your bench....

I disagree. Doumit has been available in my league for probably 2 months now. I have not seen the guy produce and regardless of who Pittsburgh promotes, it's the Pirates who were are talking about. A few minor leaguer's will not have that big of an impact right away. Carlos has already showed his promise, not saying he will not have his adjustments, but overall, it's the Catcher we're talking about, I would go with the most upside in Santana and drop Doumit for something more valuable. Also, I know how hard trades can be, my 12 team league does not know what a counter offer is. haha

thanks for you help.

I'm not sure how to answer this, but I think you will find your answer by looking at the catchers everybody else has this year. If Doumit isn't a significant upgrade over anybody else's catcher, you're pretty much going to have to drop him.
Looking forward to back to back championships in 2011!

Thanks on mine

Drop Doumit, unless you can combo him. If your league is tough trading in, your not going to get a deal for him. Santana is going to be a top 5 catcher in the 2nd half offensively.

I was just faced with the same dilemma. I picked up Carlos Santana and dropped Doumit without hesitation. He's decent, but just another guy in the muddled middle of catchers available. YOu would be better off with a different, more versatile bat on the bench or a useful pitcher. good luck.

help wiht mine if you can...

Thanks for the help on mine. I would drop Doumit, considering his average performance thus far and his injury history. Worst case you end up picking him back up later on (I would imagine he'll sit on the WW for a while, unless you have a really deep league) or pick up someone else who will put up similar numbers. Good luck!

I hate to say this because I think Doumit could produce some good numbers the rest of the year (they are talking about getting him more starts at 1st on his off days also). But you have Santana so you their is no need to roster 2 catchers. Try to package him in a trade to whoever has the worst catcher. If nothing happens, then it is safe to drop him to improve at another area.
