Trade Johan Santana for Strausberg? **WHIR!!!***

Postby krunchyfrogg » Mon Jun 14, 2010 8:21 am

I currently own Santana.

The owner of Strausberg has been asking for Johan all year (he's a big Mets fan).

I keep flipping between first and second place.

My teams weaknesses are:
  • Strikeouts
  • over my IP limit
  • Saves (I know Strausberg doesn't help here)

Is this a good deal to make? Am I buying too much into the Strausberg hype machine? Will Johan have his typical stronger second half?
Looking forward to back to back championships in 2011!

I'd say do it. Strasburg is legit. He'll help your K's for sure.

I'd stay with the known quantity. Santana has a long track record and has been elite for much of that time. Strasberg has been impressive - in two starts.

Plus, he's likely to get shut down early - do you want a pitcher on your roster who doesn't throw an inning in September?

Stay with Santana!

I would say do it because you need K's and you are over your IP limit. Strausberg's k/9 is going to be much better than Santana's which will really help you.

I don't know if it's equal value 100% because lets face it, strausberg has pitched against two awful teams, so I think he may hit a bump or two along the way, but I think it is worth a shot.

Do it. Santana is shot as a top SP. He doesn't even touch 90 mph anymore and doesn't strike people out. He'll pitch for a good ERA and pretty good whip but no Ks.

Might be a bit much, but it's not overkill since you can keep Stausberg for next year.

It may hurt you at playoff time if Strausberg ends his season early (IP limit), but I'd do it.

help?

Since this is a KEEPER league, easy answer. STRASBURG!!!! This is really a no-brainer, IF he is willing (which I doubt).

Tough one. I can see the merit in making such a move, but you are first or second, and I think Santana could do his part in fulfilling. I can't take away from Strasburg either, as I think ha can help. But as others have said, I think he is likely to be shut down at some point. I hear he will have a regular rotation spot for some time and then I imagine they mix it up some. I would personally wait on this for two reasons.... They hype can't get bigger. If Starsburg hits a bump which he should... then you play the cards.... Strasburg is great but young... Not as reliable or hasn't the track record of Johan... Perhaps, you can wheel another small edge for yourself.

I will not condemn you if you make trade.... I think I would hold off a bit and see though.

Thanks for your help.

If he's such a big mets fan see if you can deal Santana for Strausberg and a closer... you said you need saves as well and then maybe drop one of your weaker closers... if he's so set on Santana he may do this... Strausberg is hot right now, but I think this guy knows he's gonna hit a bump so try a 2 for 1....

please help with my start/bench: viewtopic.php?f=94&t=414849
