Hamilton for Kershaw WHIR

Postby skones » Sat Jun 12, 2010 11:02 am

First time posting this season, can I get a little help? Like i said, I'll help in return.
h2h
Cats: runs, hr, rbi, sb, avg, ops, ks, wins, sv, hld, era, whip
Keep up to 6 players after the season.

Team: 61-44 (3rd place)
C: Posada
1B: Butler
2B: Pedroia
3B: Wright
SS: Drew
OF: Hamilton
OF: Rasmus
OF: J. Upton
UTIL: Cantu
UTIL: Willingham
Bench: Pierre
Bench: Berkman
Bench: B. Upton

SP: Lincecum
SP: Price
SP: Garza
SP: Oswalt
SP: Braden
RP: Valverde
RP: Dotel
RP: Corpas
RP: Sergio Santos
RP: Clay Hensley
RP: Mike Adams

Lincecum, at this point isn't giving me the top stuff I need in order to be successful in my pitching categories. With that being said, Garza and Braden have slowed down after their hot starts and I've been toying with the idea of adding one more big arm to bolster my rotation with the surplus of OF's I have. I've been talking to one owner and the following offers have been thrown out there from him.

J. Upton for Greinke (declined because I didn't want to have to keep two pitchers, Greinke's declining k rate scares me, also think Upton will turn it around)
Hamilton for Hamels (declined because he's got better options available)
Hamilton and Valverde for Greinke and Alfredo Simon (passed because I thought the inclusion of Valverde was too much, and I'm not sure what Simon brings to the table)
Hamilton and Valverde for Kershaw (he's in 10th place out of 12 so I think he's more inclined to make a move, trying to make a straight up deal)

His SP are Strasburg, Josh Johnson, Kershaw, Hamels, Colby Lewis, Liriano, Tim Hudson
He does have Hong-Chih Kuoh who I'm particularly interested in if I have to give up Valverde, I don't think he'd part with Wagner or K-rod if he was getting Valverde in return

I guess what I'm asking, is what you'd do, if you're particularly inclined to do any of the above offers, or any offers you'd counter with. Or am I overreacting a bit to the declines in Lincecum and Garza. I'm just not sure if Hamilton being removed throws me out of sync too much. The fact that he's a health risk makes me more inclined to cash in now.

Any help appreciated.

I would off for now, even though you have a surplus of OF'ers I don't think the actual depth is there for you to give up Hamilton. I also think you should be getting a little more in return than just Kershaw for Hamilton and if so inclined Valverde. Hamilton is returning to old power form and should have a higher return.

Try moving BJ Upton for Kershaw that would be about the right value IMO
