Pick up Carlos Santana?

Postby skjelstrom » Fri Jun 11, 2010 1:24 pm

I currently have Napoli and Montero on the DL. But I don't think Napoli will continue his pace so maybe Santana would perform well or at least until Montero returns (if he returns well enough to hit, with his knee injury and all)

Only players I would consider dropping are Alexei Ramirez, Jay Bruce, or Brian Fuentes. Should I drop any of them for Santana now that he is up in the bigs?

Definitely drop Ramirez. Even if he starts to hit, I think Santana will put up better numbers over the same time frame.

help?

Depending on the strength of your starting SS, I would drop Alexei, too. Bruce is the best of the three players you mentioned as potential droppers, and IMHO, he's not droppable at all.

Napoli should get starts at 1B, and that's valuable. Heck, that alone made people tout Jeff Clement, and he never hit in the bigs.

I have Elvis Andrus at SS. So I think my SS position is good.

Do you think Santana will be better than Napoli? or good enough to drop Alexei?

I think Santana's upside is being your best C even this year. He might also break the surface of the water as he attempts to walk on it a la Wieters, too, though.

Still, as long as your main competitors don't need Alexei, pull the trigger. You've got a chance at owning 3 of the top 6 C for this year, and that's very tradeable.

Actually thanks for pointing it out, but if I dropped Alexei I have a few competitors that would likely jump on him..... I would try and trade him and then make room for Santana but I don't think I have time, I gotta make the pickup soon if im going to....

I would go ahead and drop Fuentes for him right now and then try and package Napoli and Ramirez for a need somewhere else.
