My E. Andrus for his C. Beltran?

Postby RIP HB » Thu Jun 10, 2010 10:04 pm

I'm in a 12-team keeper league and I'm 16 games out already. I'm looking to trade good (but not keeper worthy) players for guys I can keep for next year.

I've been offered C. Beltran for my E. Andrus. Should I make the trade or hold onto Andrus? I guess the question is, do you see Andrus as a keeper come next season? If he does, then I'll place him into my middle infielder spot (I have Jeter at SS). If I decide to make the trade, then C. Beltran becomes my 3rd and final OF.

Here's my list of keepers for next year (as of now). We can keep up to 6:
M. Kemp OF
A. Rios OF
D. Jeter SS
B. Phillips 2B
M. Cain SP

Our postitions are as follows:
C
1B
2B
SS
3B
CI
MI
3 OF's
U

5 SP's
3 RP's

Whadya think? Should I pull the trigger on Beltran or stick with Andrus?

Thanks.

No way!

Andrus is batting leadoff in a great lineup and should get better with age. I would much rather have Andrus then Beltran in a keeper league. Who knows if Beltran will ever return to the type ofplayer he once was.

Ditto!! Beltran is no more than maybe a 20 hr guy anymore, and definitely won't be stealing 30 bags again. Andrus has a decent ceiling, and he isn't even close to it yet. Keep Andrus.

Its a matter of the enviroment or homepark.. beltran plays in the very unhitter friendly confines of City Field and will be playing 81 games there every year for the rest of his career as his contract is untradeable.. elvis is a great up and comer .. you must keep him.. i wouldn not pull the trigger on that trade

Andrus is exactly the kind of player you look for in a keeper league. Beltran clearly is on the way down now and the DL looks to be a regular companion.
Really Jeter isn't an ideal keeper either, but as long as he stays healthy at years end he probably can be kept another year if the #'s are there. Generally you want guys on the under side of 30 for keepers, but of course there are exceptions. Think young & upside for your future, not fading stars

QFT. I have him and I would never dream of giving him up for Beltran. Plus the premium of a SS putting up the numbers he is, it's a no brainer.

I would agree with most.

Beltran is way past his prime and OF is very deep.

Andrus can win you steals and in that lineup rack up R like Rollins and Jeter at a much cheaper cost.
