I honestly think right now, the only 2 I would draft ahead of him is Ubaldo and Halladay, but I still would consider taking him first, since the upside is out of this world
I'd still take Lincecum over him, but I do agree that he will be one of the top 5 SP off the board next year (barring a total implosion this year)

20K and a no-hitter against the Mets. Just to rub it in that the Mets still haven't had a no hitter. Maybe Pelfrey will be the one to finally break that jinx.

a really good point I heard to keep in mind too is: sure its ONLY the Pirates but how many other pitchers have gotten the 14k's against that lineup this year?
Certainly helps to be facing a "weaker" team but what a debut. Glad to have him on a team. The offers have been coming in too ( i know firsthand other owners getting really good offers and easy to assume thats happening all over piles of leagues).
And its just good to see the Nats fans filling it up and EXCITED, what a great story if they stick around and make some contending moves this season and/or to egt better the following years.

Not just 14 Ks, but 0 walks. On 94 pitches. This one of the best pitching performances of the year, and we've already had three perfect games. With his stuff, the only way he falters would be an injury. Lets hope he doesn't go the way of Mark Prior.

I was thinking of him and Kerry Wood. Based on one start and all the hype surrounded him and the way he delivered, injuries are the only thing that will keep him from being the player everyone thinks he is going to be.
