Mike Stanton worth #1 Waiver? WHIR!!!

Postby bradowatson » Tue Jun 08, 2010 9:32 am

In a 12 team keeper league (keeping 10), I am planning on burning my #1 waiver on Mike Stanton as I can't see it getting me much more unless somebody decides to make a terrible move and drop a star later in the year. I'm planning on dropping either Rich Harden (tired of his shenanigans) or Luke Gregerson (can pick up another HOLD guy later) for him. Which is the better move? Team is in sig. We have the dreaded innings pitched category in my league so I have to keep around 7-8 starting pitchers on my roster. Leave a link and I'll return the favor.

On first instinct I would drop harden, but dropping either is worth Stanton. Stanton is a great prospect in keeper league as you know so totally worth waiver wire spot.

Help, thanks. viewtopic.php?f=26&t=414166&p=3284898

Stanton is worth the #1 waiver, just go ahead and do it and be done with it. Be patient with him though, and don't drop him unless something drastic happens. I'm in a holds league as well, and I would advise you not to drop Gregerson - he has a 0.64 ERA with 32 strikeouts in 28 innings since he allowed three runs in his first appearance of the season. Since that opener, he has given up just eight hits and one walk — and that was an intentional walk. If you drop him, you will never be able to pick that kind of consistent talent back up.

On more vote for Stanton. I'd go with dropping Harden as I think his innings and his injuries have caught up to him. I can't see anybody scooping him up and if they do, you can replace him just as easily with another SP similar to him. Stanton is Keeping gold (I grabbed him two week ago)!
