Am I crazy to deal Teixeira?

Postby guyincognito » Mon Jun 07, 2010 9:09 pm

My offense needs a boost and in a 14 team league, the only way I'm going to be able to get anything substantial is by dealing one of my top bats. We only keep 2. Right now my keepers are Teixeira and Longoria. The league is pretty tight with almost everyone still in the race, however, the two bottom teams have declared themselves out and are looking to deal for either a keeper or draft picks for next year. I threw it out to the league that Tex was available for the right deal. A few owners have expressed interest, but no official offer has been put on the table yet.
I was contemplating on working a deal with one of the bottom teams sending Tex + either a pick or Latos for J.Upton, D.Lee and F.Hernandez, thinking I'd have an option of the 2nd keeper between Heyward, Upton, Wainwright, or Felix, but I've gotten some feedback elsewhere telling me that since we only keep two I shouldn't deal Tex. I'm all for trying to preserve him, but the idea is to win now if I have the opportunity, so what does everyone here think? Am I crazy to deal Tex, or am I making a good move and I should try to get as much as I can for him. I definitely think that I need to get a 1B in return since I don't really want to start Posey at 1B, though I'm not sure about getting Lee. There is another owner interested in Tex and I was thinking of trying to make a play for his Votto and either Cruz or Hamilton. Thinking I can try to sneak Cruz since he's on the DL. What do you think? Third team interested has Pablo Sandoval or Konerko to send in return, but he is very difficult to deal with.

Thats a tough one. I'm not sure if trading Teixeira will make your offense better even if you get a good deal. If you think you can part with a pitcher that will probubly upgrade your hitting better. It also might be a better idea to wait out Wallaces callup. If he gets called up and sticks in the bigs than trading Teixiera may be easier to swallow.
