Mauer + Pena for Crawford + Butler?

Postby Shauntell47 » Mon Jun 07, 2010 2:19 pm

Hi, my league's 12 team H2H. Here's my roster:

C Mauer
1B Fielder
2B Polanco
3B Young
SS Aviles (can get Brignac, Castro, Theriot too)
OF Willingham
OF Gomes
OF Markakis
Util V. Martinez
Util Lind
Bn C. Pena
Bn Hawpe

SPs J. Garcia, Kennedy, Ervin Santana, M. Leake, Buchholz, King Felix, Marcum, Latos
RPs Bell, Wagner, Corpas

I was thinking about trading Mauer since I don't need 2 catchers, and they have to sit out once in a while too.

So since I could use help at SS, closer, plus in the SB departement, I was thinking about this trade:

Mauer + Pena for Crawford + Butler

The guy i would trade with has Soto as a catcher, so i think he'll accept.

Do you think this is a good deal?

Thx for your help, leave a link & I'll help you out too.

Re: Mauer for Choo/Ellsbury, Y. Escobar & Bailey/Feliz/Soria

It's not bad, Choo is as solid as they come (I would steer clear of Ells). I think Bailey gets the most saves going forward (KC doesn' win enough and the Rangers win by too many runs). Escobar looks to be turning it around a little and is in an above-average lineup, but let me ask you this: do you want to be competitive in SB's. Doesn't look you have a lot of speed there. I MIGHT consider, picking up Theriot for some bags, then trading Mauer for Crawford and a closer, if that would even fly with the Crawford owner. It would be a tough sell at this point. To answer your question directly though, I would do that. Mauer for Choo, Escobar, and Bailey/Soria (prefer Bailey). Mauer is going to pick it up a little in the power department but he is looking to have the season I expected, which is about 15-.330.......still trying to make some sort of sense of his '09.......Choo's a beast, Escobar should come around, and Bailey or Soria are pretty solid closers in what has been a pretty tumultuous year for closers.

Mauer + Pena for Crawford + Butler?

Postby Shauntell47 » Mon Jun 07, 2010 4:02 pm

Well, i just picked up Theriot... He just went 2 for 3 w/ 4 runs and 2 sb's...

It was against the pirates, but nevertheless... I'll see what he does for me this week...

As for the Crawford trade... I might try that out...

What about Mauer + Pena for Crawford + Butler?

The guy only has 2 closers, so i doubt he'll give up another closer, plus i just want to get rid of Pena.
