Semi-blockbuster deal...I'd like some thoughts

Postby Element7125 » Fri Jun 04, 2010 5:43 pm

Currently I'm in 1st by about 9 games in my 10-team league...so obviously I don't really need to do too much to improve my team but the game is boring w/o trades (I hate sitting on my team)
This is a 4-player keeper league (fyi) -- Basic scoring along w/ hitter BBs and hits and Pitching BBs, Losses, CG, and SO [so there is a slight bias in pitchers that go the distance]

The trade =

I get = Big Tex, Victor Martinez, Kershaw, Grienke
I lose = Nelson Cruz, Swisher, Wainwright, Clay Buchholtz

My current catcher is Cervelli (but he will be dropped soon) [and I have santana on my bench]
My current 1B = Carlos Pena (not stellar -- but I knew what I was getting)

Basically w/ Tex and Greinke REALLY sucking -- is it a lost cause? or you think they are fantastic buy-low guys

My other players = Pedroria, Bruan, Tulo, Bay, Bourn, Uggla, Kubel
Pitchers = Marcum, Nolasco, Hudson, Liriano, Anderson
Closers = paps, soria, lindstom, Axford
DL = Webb and Mike Gonzalez

I feel like Wainwright just might be too good but the worth of Tex/Vmart/Grienke at the beginning of the season were so high -- odds are they will come back to life
As for keepers I'll still be set w/ Tex, Braun, Tulo, and either Pedroria or Grienke (depends)

Thoughts?

I like this for you. Greinke has regressed a tad, but he/Kershaw for Wainwright/Buchholz is a win for you, IMO, then you add in Tex/VMart for Swisher/Cruz and it puts you ahead. Hate losing Cruz -- best pure keeper of the bunch -- but he's been a little injury prone, obviously. Some might say don't mess with a 1st place team, but I dunno, I'd do it...admitting that I'm sort of a restless owner myself and like trading, so take that with a grain of salt.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly...

I feel in the long run -- talent wise, i do go up...plus I have been chasing Tex for quite a while

I hate giving up Cruz, but now he has tweaked both hamstrings w/in 1 month -- hamstrings are as lingering as a groin injury, so he can go anytime...but he was definitely a player I aimed for specifically for a Keeper league [he is too good]

Swish was a throw away (as he won't continue this pace, but he does hold value in NY); I picked him up from FA like 2 weeks ago -- we play w/ a thin bench in this league and most like to carry pitchers w/ our free spots [including myself]
