Legitimate Keeper League Offer? WHIR as always

Postby RenT » Fri Jun 04, 2010 1:22 am

An owner just lost Morales and said he is looking for bats... he mentioned he is willing to include Strasburg in a deal. I'm sitting in 2nd to last place and it might be time to start thinking about next year. Is the following offer a fair one (I really have no clue what Strasburg's value is in a keeper league)?

Josh Hamilton, Nick Markakis and Johan Santana

for

Stephen Strasburg, Kendry Morales and Felix Hernandez

I also have Max Scherzer (who the other owner expressed interest in)... though I'd like to come out of the deal with an extra pitcher. Am I offering enough to get these guys? This other owner is playing to win this year, so I'm thinking it could be ok? Leave a link and I'll get to yours.

I'd take the deal. Strasburg will be legit - I like the comparison to Tommy Hanson. Felix for Santana is a wash, as will Kendy for Hamilton going into next year and I've had enough of the disappointing Markakis. You could try to counter askinig for another hitter if you are unsure about Kendry's health or aren't ready to throw in the towel on this season, but I like the deal for you as it stands now if you are rebuilding.

If the guy is going for it this year, that deal will help him. Otherwise you win that deal going forward in a keeper league. You get much younger and upgrade in every way IMO. Go ahead and offer it, but don't be too shocked if he turns it down. If he accepts, give yourself a pat on the back.

Assuming the guy is going for this season it could work, and would be amazing for you. But unless he proposed that I do doubt it working. To be honest if you had to throw in Scherzer on top of that deal it would still be worth doing.

how many keepers do you get to bring back?
does he need a 1st baseman to replace Morales?
adding Felix to the 2 he mentioned might b pushing your luck

The guys you get back will help you WAY in the future than the guys you gave up, but if the guy is going for it this year, then it makes sense... Id do this deal without hesitation.
