which closer to acquire?

Postby Philomath » Thu Jun 03, 2010 8:26 pm

I am getting frustrated with Capps and have the opportunity to replace him with the following closers:

Marmol
Wilson
Soriano
Dotel
Wagner

This league scores closer stats as follows:
S - 5
INN - 1
K - 1
RW - 5
BS - (-2)
ER - (-1)
L - (-2)

Who should I get? Thanks in advance. If you leave a link I will respond to yours.

I would replace him with Brian Wilson, and Soriano if you think his health will hold up, and also probably Marmol.

Thanks for help on mine.

Marmol
Soriano
Dotel

Look at closer stats more than saves. Saves are harder to predict.

Wilson is the best closer on that list, but he's having a hard time getting save opportunities this year. Although I don't like to admit it, Marmol and Wagner aren't bad options right now either...

All of those guys deserve to be on a roster and I would definitely all of them over Capps from here on out, except for maybe Dotel who I'd rank even with him. The order you have them in looks good. You might need some Rolaids watching them, especially Marmol or Wilson at times, but you will be getting a lot of K's per innings pitched. Can you free up another spot to take a couple of them?

I would go after Marmol. I think he may be the best reliever of the bunch. He always strikes a ton of guys out so that is a big plus right there.
