Morneau and Garcia for Crawford? WHIR

Postby NotAmused » Thu Jun 03, 2010 1:43 pm

I was offered Crawford for my Morneau and Jaime Garcia. 12 team h2h league

My team currently looks like

C- Posey
1B - Morneau
2B - Phillips
3B - Zimmerman
SS - Tulowitzki
OF - J. Upton
OF - Manny Ramirez
OF - Gardner
Util - Rasmus/Berkman (depends on pitching matchup)

SP - Dan Haren
SP - Aj Burnett
SP - James Shields
SP - Francisco Liriano
Bench - Javier Vazquez
Bench - Jaime Garcia
Bench - Ben Sheets
DL - Brandon Webb
RP - Billy Wagner
RP - Kevin Gregg
RP - Manuel Corpas

Should I do the deal and put Berkman at 1B in replace of Morneau? I am thinking of pulling the trigger because Morneau is bound to come back to life soon..but can I afford losing Garcia?

Id hang tight. You need Morneau's power and if you want to trade him Id look for a power bat instead of a speed guy like CC. You already have Gardner in your OF. Phillips and Upton will also swipe you a few.

I would be shopping Morneau shortly though. He always seems to come out of the gate strong then tail off in the second half.

Thanks for the help with mine.

In a vacuum, I'd say it's a pretty good trade. You're getting the best player in the deal even if you're overpaying a little. However, for your team, I think that little is actually a little too much. You could stand to lose Morneau -- he's more valuable to you in RBI than in HR, btw -- but personally I think it's Garcia that puts it over the top. I like your idea of selling high on both guys, but unless you can get a pitcher back from him, I'd look elsewhere.
