JUNE BLOCKBUSTER *All Help Will Be Returned.*

Postby Tom Emanski AllStars » Thu Jun 03, 2010 12:26 pm

K.Morales owner has offered me Nelson Cruz for Joey Votto. It's an interesting proposal, he's desperately hurting at 1b now, and my OF has been just plain terrible. I just picked up Michael Stanton and Rajai Davis is steal (pun intended) sitting in FA. Please help me make a deal, or tell me I shouldn't do it.

Below is trade is the chronological order of trade/counter/counter-counter/and so on.

1) Proposed to me:
i give: Votto
i get: Nelson Cruz

2) My Counter:
i give: Votto + Burnett
i get: Cruz + J.Johnson

he said NO, and went on to say that he values Cruz higher than Votto and if it wasn't for his needs there would be no way he'd would have offered Cruz for Votto straight up.

3) His Counter:
i give: Votto + Burnett
i get: cruz + e.santana

4) My counter:
i give: votto + liriano
i get: cruz + johnson
(i canceled it before it could be accepted, he emailed that the offer was better, but didn't comment on if he would have accepted, he also said that Manny Rameriz would be available with "certain offers"

5) His counter by email, not officially proposed:
i give: votto + liriano
i get: Cruz + Lind + Brett Anderson

i think that last deal is pretty good. But i'm not a huge Lind fan and see his final numbers at .270/25/90. Cruz has his gimpy hamstring. and Brett Anderson is his on injury risk.

I'll be dropping Cabrera as soon as Rollins is back.
Cafe I desperately need you help in making this deal. I need a stud OF BAD to compliment Ethier.

I like the straight up deal to be honest, but if you can suck Lind and Anderson out of him for Votto even better. If he doesn't accept that one I would just go ahead and do the straight up deal.

You're undervaluing Votto. As for him, I think he's just full of ****. He does not value Cruz more than Votto. He's just saying that to get you to accept his trade offers. Honestly, until he gets realistic with the fact that he's trading away an injured OF'er for the guy who is second in the NL in OPS (behind Pujols), I'd just stay away from the trade.

The only offer I see listed that I'd take is your original counter offer (listed as #2 in your post).

I responded in my thread.. please take a look:

the owner lives in Dallas and is a huge Rangers fan. I think he's bias. But yes i think he was trying to get more out of me.

I would not be touching Cruz right now with a 10 foot pole unless you can buy him really low. The Hamstring problems concern me. Half is value is attributed to his ability to steal 20-30 bases this season. Tough to do that with 2 bad hammys.

I also agree with the above poster. The fact that he values Cruz over Votto is total BS. When healthy I don't thing I'd do Votto for Cruz straight up. Now with Cruz injured he still thinks Cruz is more valuable. That's pretty funny ;-)

If I were you, I'd take a look at Carlos Gonzalez and try and go that route instead of Cruz.

Thanks for the help with mine.

I wouldn't do it since Votto is the best player in the deal. Nelson Cruz is good but Votto is better. I might consider the deal only if you got Josh Johnson in return. But he does not want to do it. So no deal.

I wouldn't do this. he is over-valuing Cruz. Cruz has been on DL twice now. Anderson just left todays game hurt. Can you trade Votto to another team. Surely he would be of value to someone else. I wouldn't let this owner pull the strings. He needs the 1B more then you need the OF. Of all the deals I like the one with you getting Johnson/Cruz. I would hold off. You aren't bad at all.

Votto is superior to Cruz.

I agree with the others that Votto is better and more valuable that Cruz. You are in the position of power here, so you should use that to your advantage. He desperately needs a 1B, which you have to offer, but only if the deal is right. I wouldn't trade Votto straight up. And with Cruz a little gimpy right now, even more of a reason to get more in return.

Help?

I'd probably hang onto Votto due to the OPS note above... very good point.

What about Bruce and Papi for Carlos Gonzalez and Lind? Sell high on Papi, buy low on Lind... and get Cargo for the streaky Bruce.
