HOF?
Do you know the guy doesn't really like baseball that much? Do you know the guy doesn't have a passion to play the game that much?

Hopefully they would be open minded enough to realize that not one player was ever going to turn his Cincinnati or Washington teams into winners.

By no means am I saying that is going to be the deciding factor that keeps him out. I am just saying he lacks every intangible. All he is going to have is power numbers. No glove, no average, no speed, nothing else that stands out. To be a HOFer you need several aspects of your game to be elite, and I was just using an example to show that 500 HRs is ALMOST enough to get you into the HOF. 500 HRs with any sort of intangibles would probably be enough. Whether the intangibles are a .290 avg, 250 SBs, World Series rings, gold gloves etc. He lacks all of the above, and being one-dimensional, even to the point of 500 HRs will not be enough. I can't believe how many people are dissecting my comment...

Oh my goodness.

I didn't read the rest of this thread, but from what I gather some mentioned Adam Dunn and Hall of Fame? Hoo boy...

Not even in the same time zone, my friends.

I was just bringing up an interesting thought. In my opinion everybody on the 500 HR list belongs in the hall unless you bury them for steroids. Adam Dunn will be a 500 HR hitter also IMO and then we have a debate if that's enough. It sounds ridiculous to say Adam Dunn and HOF in the same sentence but it's a valid argument. 500 HR's has been automatic until the steroid era and Dunn in all likelihood wasn't a juicer.
