exactly. seth smith is pretty awesome vs RHP and if you can platoon him, id fully recommend it.

Fowler hit for the cycle on June 21st going 5-6 with 5 runs, 3 rbi. Had 3 walks last night, 22nd, going 1-2. How did I beat Neato to this update???

This is my view on the rockies never ending outfield.

1. Brad Hawpe (trade him for pitching)
2. Seth Smith; The fact he doesn't start every game is mind boggling
3. Carlos gonzalez; Awesome but injury prone
4. Ryan Spilborghs; Could easliy fill in for Hawpe
5. Fowler; If we didn't rotate our outfield every night he'd be doing fine

2. Seth Smith; The fact he doesn't start every game is mind boggling agreed
3. Carlos gonzalez; Awesome but injury prone not really, he's missed 12 days to injury in his 3 year MLB career
4. Ryan Spilborghs; Could easliy fill in for Hawpe should be the 4th OF; I don't think the 30-HR pace is real but he's still a quality hitter
5. Fowler; If we didn't rotate our outfield every night he'd be doing fine I know right

Is it just me or does it seem that despite constantly playing well, Spilly can never get much playing time? I keep hearing that he can't keep whatever pace he's on up, but usually thats just because he doesn't get enough PT to have any chance.

Right thats how the rox have worked for years and it drives me nuts. They do it with ALL of their players.

Examples:

Ian Stewart: Dude is the future 3B of the franchise. He could homer in 5 straight games but if he goes 0 for his next 10 he immediately becomes a bench player to Melvin Mora (or Atkins like last year WTF)

Everyone in the outfield except Hawpe: Seth Smith has 10 Hr's from a role player role. yet he's a bench player if he goes 0fer literally one day it seems. The other problem is that he's really clutch late in the game. Somehow this equates (and applies to spilly too) to "oh he's clutch so we can't start him".

Iannetta: Dude has TONS of power. He started slow so he goes to the minors.

The rockies really piss me off with their player development. If anything Helton who is batting .240 from the TWO HOLE should be sat and stewart or Hawpe should be playing 1B.


Playing time is all over the place for the rox. It's somewhat annoying. But hey I think they are only like 3 games back
