Grady Sizemore (knee) will undergo arthroscopic surgery this week to determine the extent of his injury. Sizemore will be out 6-8 weeks at the minimum, but if the scope finds a microfracture, it'll be much longer than that. It's all bad news for the Indians, but at least it's some clarity on what was originally called a bone bruise. Hold on to Sizemore until after the scope. If he's got a microfracture, it may be time to part ways, but if not, he'll be back in August for the stretch run.
Already dropped he and Morales both. Too many players on the DL on my team to even think about carrying guys that are out for that long and might not even come back. If I had to guess, I'd say Grady needs the microfracture surgery and doesn't play again in 2010. Best case scenario for Grady is that he's back in 8 or so weeks, but then he might just continue to have a sub .230 avg with a sub .700 OPS, with no power. I grabbed Angel Pagan who, healthy or not, might be better than Grady anyway.
I had Beltran last year. Week after week they kept changing the story on his injury or how long it would be till he came back. Guess what? It will be June 2010 in 1 more day, and he is still out. I have (now it's had) Sizemore this year. I can tell you from 1st hand experience that it's playing out EXACTLY as it did last year with Beltran. I would be absolutely SHOCKED if Sizemore plays again this year.
I can't imagine anyone holding onto this guy in a non-keeper league unless you have A LOT of DL slots to play with. Otherwise, just cut him and breathe a sigh of relief. That's what I did (and replaced him with Ortiz who is making me forget all about Grady). I feel so much better now that that turd is off my team. I'll think about drafting him again next year, maybe.
Sizemore will miss the rest of the 2010 season after undergoing microfracture surgery during an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee on Friday, the Indians' official site reports. Spin: He's going to miss six-to-nine months while rehabbing, but the current plan calls for Sizemore to return to action during Cactus League play in Arizona in March. It's now safe to drop him in one-year formats, if you were previously hoping to get something out of him between now and October.
