Posey

Postby Johnny Tuttle » Sun May 30, 2010 1:02 am

In a 12-team, mixed redraft OBP leauge, my worst players are likely Contreras, Holland, Lackey, Quentin, Holland, Beckham, and Peavy, and I need to activate Brett Anderson and want to take Buster Posey, too.

I have tried doing 2-for-1s, of course, but no dice yet.

#1. Would dropping Peavy to activate BA work? I hate to say it, but he almost seems like someone I should use to poison someone else's ERA/WHIP.

#2. Crazy to want to drop Quentin (whose OBP is poor and whose power upside might be 25/90) for a flier on Posey? As long as I get one of Posey/Carlos Santana, I think I'm ok, myself, but I don't want to miss both to overconfidence. McCann is hurting.

#3. I can't bring myself to drop Beckham. I know it's logical, but I just see him rebounding in a big way sometime, and I can't pass up on the chance.

I'd drop Beckham or Quentin without reservation here. Probably CQ since he's at a deeper position and has just been a mess thusfar.

Thanks for the help. Who do you have playing 2b or 3b? Is he even going to crack your lineup with even a glimmer of what he did at the end of last season? Otherwise, drop quentin... not a whole lot of power in OF this year but he's just not that good at this point.

Dang it. I got hosed on Posey, so I'm taking Carlos Santana and dropping Peavy (to activate BA) and Quentin to do so.

In a 12 team league... you can't even sell Peavy and Quentin for even one mediocre player back?

You would have thought, but with difficult or absent owners, it's easier said than done to do the deed.

Since it's a redraft, I would drop Quientin and Beckham. I don't think anyone would trade for them right now and they are just wasting space on your team. I still like Peavy enough to have him on my team (and I do), to be a great option on my bench.

Thanks for the help on mine.

Thanks for the help on mine. Drop Beckham for sure, Quentin looks like he might be starting to produce now.
