Drop Soto, Sizemore, Quentin and/or Adam Jones?...WHIR

Postby Tom Emanski AllStars » Sat May 29, 2010 2:33 pm

It's almost June and time to clean house. I've tried moving these players with their value at the lowest but with no luck

Droppable players: G.Soto, G.Sizemore, C.Quentin, A.Jones

Players that I'd like to Add:
    David Ortiz
Carlos Guillen (will soon be 2b eligible in addition to OF)
Buster Posey (I know he'll only initialy play 5 days per week, but Soto is struggling
Michael Stanton (will hopefully catch lightening in bottle, and add some more punch to my struggling OF, much like Posey)
    Johnny Cueto

I'm would be hoping to catch the next big thing in just one of Posey/Stanton. Guillen will hit for AVG/RBI/OBP at 2b position. Cueto will add some added SP stats. Ortiz will allow me to deal Berkman or Votto for added needs What's the cafe feelings?

10 team - H2H- 6x6 - nonkeeper - daily changes - max adds per week = 3
(R,HR,RBI,AVG,OBP,SB --- W,QS, SV,K,ERA,WHIP)

C-Geovany Soto (c)
1B-Albert Pujols (1b)
2B-Alberto Callaspo (2b,3b)

I would drop Sizemore for Ortiz. At this point, I don't think Sizemore will be much of a factor this season. Ortiz has been a monster this month, and he should at least outproduce Sizemore the rest of the way. I would drop Soto for Posey. Posey is an exciting rookie, and the Cubs lineup isn't exactly an RBI machine so far.

it's adam jones, and that would leave me without a catcher 8-o

Drop Sizemore (being hurt and useless isn't going to help your team) and pick up Ortiz. Then if you want to gamble a little, drop Soto and hope that Posey is worth the hype.
90% of my posts are from complaining about my team :)

I agree with others. I'd drop Grady for Papi, drop any of the others you want for Posey. Since he hasn't played in the majors yet, I'm not sure if I'd drop Soto and rely on just Posey at catcher since he's unproven. But if you wanted to drop him that seems okay

Sizemore for Ortiz. That's the best bet now that Cueto is gone. I'd also drop Jones for Posey. Based strictly on value I would say drop Soto, but Posey is no sure thing. Quentin will hopefully get his BABIP woes figured out. I would wait on Stanton.

I know you said Cuerto is gone, but I wouldn't have added him anyways. Your pitching seems pretty solid as is.

Like most of the replies I've read, I'd drop Sizemore for Ortiz. I can't see Sizemore providing much of anything for your team this season. Especially with two players on the DL already in Rollins and Ethier, I'd get rid of him and grab the hot bat of Ortiz. The Red Sox are surging (as I'm sure you know since it seems like you're a Sox fan) and Ortiz has been revitalized after a slow start.

Also, if Rollins and Ethier get healthy in the near future, you can add Sizemore back as your DL spot.
