Stats in Excel

Postby LloydChristmas » Fri May 28, 2010 3:08 pm

I'm looking for a way to obtain a simple list of scores (by team) in Excel format so I can do some basic analysis.

I know that fangraphs let you download individual league leader stats into Excel...

Any resources out there?

Game scores by team? Like CHW 7 - MIN 3?

Pretty much.

CHW in A1, 7 in B1, MIN in C1, and 3 in D1

...For all the games in a season.

I don't know where you can find everything already in Excel, but if you find the information that you need already in a table format on a website you can install a Firefox addon called TableTools to copy and paste into excel. It's much more efficient than importing with Excel and it's a very clean paste if you use the Copy with Tab Delimited option.

You can go here, and either copy it and paste into Excel, or do the CSV thing and deal with the commas... I'm not sure if there's a way to get all teams together or not. I didn't see one but that doesn't mean there isn't.

you could try this for all the scores in one spot:

http://content.usatoday.com/sportsdata/ ... ll/regular

Will take some work to make the scores show up in excel like you want though...tabletools won't work correctly on it (for me at least). Good luck.
