Juan has been dropped in my money league and am considering dropping Floyd or Dye for him. When he was drafted he was not on my radar so i did not think much about him.

I read that he is actually excited about playing for T Pena. Just wondering if anyone else thinks this guy can turn his career around.

Juan Gone

Postby Ridgerunner » Wed Mar 24, 2004 3:12 pm

I gambled on him last year and it was his and A. Kearns fault that I did not win my league. I don't owner either this year. Kearns could be huge though. Gonzalez will get hurt, gurrantee that.

I'd drop Dye for him. Juan Gone is almost a mortal lock to get hurt, but he'll produce when healthy. Jermaine Dye is unlikely to do anyting. If you're lucky Gonzalez will get hot and someone in your league will want to trade for him.

Odds are Juan gone will get hurt. It's almost a gaurantee.

Odds are Dye will get hurt. It's almost a gaurantee.

Odds are Floyd will get hurt. It's almost a gaurantee.

They are ALL more than likely to be injured. Juan is by far the best option out of the 3. I'd drop Dye for him.

I think Juan is worth the risk this year, and Floyd is too imo...

I had Juan last year as my 4th outfielder. He was my best player up until he got hurt. He will get hurt sometime in the year, but I would take him in the last few rounds.

Juan Gonzalez happy, healthy, and on a team with a shot to win the division? He could be a monster this year. Injury risk for sure, but the upside is huge. I'd grab him.

Juan is worth it this year. And i dont think he hates his teammates this year. It should be a good year for him.

People still take a chance on Griffey RIGHT?

If you look at the last year they both were healthy

Juan Gone 2001 97 runs 35 homers 140 rbi 41 bb 325 average

Griffey 100 runs 40 homers 118 rbi 94 bb 271 average

And if you go back further than that Juan is a monster 140 rbi was nothing for him!

Since all the guys you listed are high injury risk you have to go by what they CAN do when healthy. And in that case Juan blows everyone away!

Juan Gone is a classic example of a guy undervalued because of injuries. He will easily produce like a top 20 OF when healthy, and you can bench him when he's not. Even if you get an average OF to replace him youve already come out on top.

His value increases that much more in Roto leagues.
