Hey guys I have been holding onto several struggling players Peavy being one of them. Would Clayton Richard be an upgrade over him at this point? The rest of team and settings are below. Leave a link and I will help you as always.

No, you don't drop a player like Peavy. Unfortunately if you try to trade him you won't get much value for him, but I don't believe you can just drop him outright. I think you are stuck with him for right now. Hopefully he rattles off a couple of good starts, once that happens deal him to someone who thinks he may have turned it around.
I would certainly kick his arse to the curb, but then I never liked him anyways. Given that someone would likely scoop him up once he hits the FA wire, it might be worthwhile seeing if you can throw him in as part of a trade despite his numbers. Maybe you can ride it out until then with Peavy on your bench given that you already have six other starters. He gets Tampa next followed by Cleveland. Bench him vs. the Rays and then think about Cleveland. If he can't beat the Indians, then he can't beat anyone.
Richard: have to give the guy credit but he's not someone I would count on going forward. What other options are available? I would rather have someone like Medlen.

Thats what I am attempting to do, but not too easy in a league like mine that don't make too many trades and not too mention his value is very low.

LOL thanks for being honest. As mentioned above I have tried to deal him as part of a package, but up to this point there has been no takers which is why I have thought about making this move. FWIW Medlen is available.
I hate dropping a guy with this much skill and experience..... He HAS to turn it around... that being said... Im really tempted to grab Bucholz (whos FA in my league) and drop Peavy! haha... But I just CANT do it!
even in a league with few trades, no way in my mind you drop peavy for any of the guys you mentioned--he's been doing as badly as i think he will recently against some solid teams, and has put up some very good starts as well. you could certainly bench him against better lineups for a few starts, but you're talking about dropping a guy who was looking like a top-25 pitcher entering the season based on 4-5 poor starts...its possible he turns out to just be bad this year, but the chance that he pitches worse than clayton richards is under one in ten in my opinion. give it time, hes been a little unlucky, hes still a very good pitcher.
I own Peavy too and, like you, I'm frustrated. But I can't advise just dropping him knowing that another owner would pick him up for nothing. His name recognition alone would cause most owners to take a cheap chance on him. I know I would do that if someone in my league dropped him no matter how bad he's doing. I agree that your best move is to hang onto him for now and hope for the best. Trading him won't get you much in return, unless you have a really clueless owner in your league. As they say, sometimes the best move is not making a move.

Thats exactly what I did. Dropped Peavy and picked up Bucholz.
