Jose Lopez

Does anyone have an explanation for why he sucks so bad at the plate right now? Most people (myself included) had him pegged as a borderline top ten fantasy 2B. Rookies' MDP report saw him going at about #117 in drafts.

The past few seasons he has played below average defense at 2B but he made up for it with his bat. This season - a complete reversal - he has been terrific in the field at 3B but his hitting is beyond awful. Most of his numbers are well below their career averages.

He's never going to walk much but he had shown pretty steady growth at the plate in some areas for 3-4 straight seasons. His contact rates look great as usual, but his power has completely evaporated. He started slow last year and turned it around but it was never this bad.

Is there a reason for this? Or is this just going to be a down year for him and the Mariners?

Last year he exploded in June after a horrific April and May...if he doesn't pick it up in June this year I'd cut bait, but at least give him a few weeks in June.

I cut Jose Lopez about 3 weeks ago! I'm in a 10-team H2H league and was planning on him being my starting 2B. I dropped him and haven't looked back since!

I reached a bit for this dude on draft day, very disappointed so far.

That being said, I'm holding. He can only get better, right? RIGHT?!

I traded him after third week of season for R.Weeks obvious injury risk but felt it was worth it. Of course played team I traded him to in h2h following week and he hit GS against me lol. Still im happy with traDE.

I'm hopeful at least one of them can break out of it as there's zero on the WW at MI in 14-team league.
