Is Pujols for Morneau straight up still a no duh?

Postby outsideoftime » Tue May 25, 2010 6:17 pm

12 team h2h 10 cat (currently in 2nd place)

I'm a huge St.Louis Cardinals fan so I'm liking this deal. However Mr. Morneau is playing at a high level as if whatever Minnesota spirit possessed Mauer last year is now in him. He has been the AL MVP before and looks like it again. Meanwhile Albert looks the worst he has EVER looked.

I want to think that Morneau will probably fade to .320 30HR 100RBI range which is great for him.
I want to think Albert will explode to reach .320 30HR 100RBI range or higher, which is average for him

Is this something to do and not look back, or should I hold with Morneau?

My roster...

C- Weiters
1B- Morneau
2B- Uggla
3B- Reynolds
SS- Ramirez Al
OF- Braun
OF- Heyward
OF- Kemp
Ut- Bautista
1B/3B- Cantu

SP- Hernandez, Carpenter, Garza, Haren, Romero, Peavy, Liriano, Leake, Strasburg
CP- Franklin, Lindstrom

If you can get Pujols for just Morneau.,....Do it now and don't look back.

I'm Canadian and I love Justin, Albert will out do him by the end of the year.

Pujols was, is, and has been the best baseball player in the world.

You have to think about "from this point on". Morneau has been absolutely deadly, but he's put up those numbers for your benefit so far. Pujols has slumped, and it hasn't affected you one bit (Well, in the fantasy game anyway).

Pujols has had a few 'down' months... over the course of his entire career. Not once, however, has that bad stretch extended beyond that. Even if Morneau and Pujols finish with similar numbers, you know for a fact that Pujols had a better run from this point on.

You're a Cardinals fan and it's the best player in the game. I would take the guy and not worry once about losing any production.

Is this a joke? OF COURSE you take Pujols for Morneau.

Career averages per 162
Morneau (285, 31, 117, 95)
Pujols (333, 42, 128, 123)

Ok, so it's 50 points Avg., 11 Hr, 11 RBI, and a boatload of runs. Those should be about the true expectations.

Help with mine:

the Pujos owner was complaining Pujos being not Pujos-like. so I offered him Morneau + Garret Jones, no responding yet, but he's not killed off the offer either. I don't expect him to accept though, just hope I can hit the lottery. :-b :-b :-b

Well the Pujols owner is still mulling it over even though he proposed it throuh email.

I have had great luck this season with my roster.

I had the fifth pick the in the draft and got some gems (Braun, Morneau, Heyward, Liriano, Garza). But since then I have added Jose Bautista off free agents, traded Nolasco, Jose Guillen & Austin Jackson for Kemp, I traded Montero way back when for Lance Berkman then turned Berkman around last week for Haren (owner was disgruntled with him). As far as pitching Leake, Romero, Lindstrom, and Strasburg (owner gave up on rostering him when his team was hit with injuries) off the free agents list.

Kinda crazy. It's an active league, 8 or 9 trades already league wide.

Thanks for the help everyone.

I'm not trying to be rude, but unless this is your first year ever doing fantasy baseball, or watching baseball for that matter... you really don't need to be asking this question. Pujols is a Hall of Fame caliber player, possibly one of the 5 best hitters to ever play the game depending on how much longer he plays at this level. Morneau is a great MLB 1b, but there are about 10-15 other players at least on his skill level at this time.

Also what Morneau is doing is not any kind of career year, take a look at his split stats the last 3 years. The guy is a HUGE 1st half guy and dies EVERY year in the 2nd half in a BIG way. He is actually the perfect guy to trade after May but it will only work on somebody who does not really pay attention to splits and has less fantasy experience.

Absolute no-brainer. How is this league even competative with deals like this being possible?
