Pelfrey for Lind (WHIR)

Postby BUCCOFAN » Tue May 25, 2010 1:50 pm

I am in a deep 15 team auction keeper league. Where players have 3 year contracts then become free agents, I am currently in 1st place but desperatley need OF help. I feel I am solid in my pitching department, and can make Pelfrey expendable. Should I sell high on Pelfery? or is his 6-1 record LEGIT. Basically I am getting 2 rentals to help my season cause......Will they both (Lind and McLouth) (two underchievers turn it around?)

I have been trying for McCutchen $20(2) and Werth $6(3) as two other targets but offering Pelfrey isn't cutting it, stubborn owners.....LOL!!! :-t

I MOVE:
SP - M.Pelfrey $2 (1)(for two more seasons)
OF - C.Coghlan $7 (2)(for one more season) former rookie of the year, struggling. But maybe Stanton comes up and steals playing time soon?

I GET:
OF - A.Lind $2 (3) (free agent at seasons end) - gives me some roster flexibility @ only $2, starting to heat up?
OF - N.McLouth $1 (3) (free agent at seasons end) - gives me some roster flexibility @ only $1, and hope he turns it around.

MY STARTING ROSTER:
C - V.Martinez $30 C - G.Soto $13
1B - A.Pujols $44 1B - K.Morales $11
2B - M.Prado $3 2B - F.Sanchez $5
3B - D.Wright $40 3B - T.Glaus $1
SS - S.Castro $8 SS - O.Cabrera $5
OF - J.Bay $15 OF - J.Guillen $1 OF - C.Coghlan $7 OF - C.Hart $3 OF - F.Lewis $1 OF - D.Young $1
SP - A.Wainwright $18 SP - C.Carpenter $34 SP - M.Garza $19 SP - C.Lee $3 SP - J.Johnson $1 SP - T.Hudson $3 SP - M.Pelfrey $2 SP - K.Correia $1

BENCH: (max 6 guys on bench)
2B/SS - O.Infante $3
OF - J.Borbon $3
OF - C.Crisp $1
SP - J.Chacin $4
SP - C.Volstad $2
RP - C.Perez $1

IR:
RP - R.Madson $5
SP - E.Volquez $1

MINORS:
C - C.Santana $15
3B - P.Alvarez $5

No way. McLouth is garbage. Im sorry to say, but he will end up in the minors in three weeks. Pelfrey is for real, and I have a hunch that coghlan will produce.

This is a yes for me. I simply prefer Lind to Pelfrey by a far enough margin that I don't really care about McLouth and Coghlan, neither of whom are really all that great for fantasy at the current time.

Lind really is a legit 4-6th rounder, and while Pelfrey's not exactly smoke and mirrors, he's just not even close to that class.

McLouth is someone you could give short leash to for a bit to see if his vision problems get rectified. If he doesn't and you dump him, I still would expect to think you won this deal.

Pelfrey is playing over his head, so you are right to sell high and Lind is much better then his numbers show, so this is a perfect buy-low/sell-high scenario, one in which you come out way on top of. I do not like McLouth to do much of anything so he is more of a throwaway for me, but getting Lind is worth the deal. Pull the trigger.

If you haven't already, just hit accept. That's a fantastic deal for you, great sell-high, buy-low. You're a regular Gordon Gekko.
