Postby Alexs » Tue May 25, 2010 9:46 am

I was offered Holliday, D Lee, Gallardo for Votto, granderson and my 2nd round pick

It's a keeper league though so I was thinking of asking for mccutchen instead of holliday is that too much?

here's my team

1b-votto, glaus
2b-mcgahee
3b-zimmerman
ss-Rollins/theriot
OF-justin upton, choo, guillen, damon, (sizemore, granderson on DL)
RP villanueva papelbon feliz
SP dempster matusz maholm bailey e jackson (brett anderson and webb on DL)

12 team keeper league h2h 5x5 with h, bb, tb, ops and L, CG, SHO, QS

keep 4 players each year

I think you are getting a good deal. I REALLY like Votto, but I think the addition of Holliday\Gallardo is worth more then what else your getting. Im not high on DLee, but not high on Granderson either. I'd pull the trigger. If you can get McCutchen, that would also as nice!

Ask him if he will let you choose which one. Never hurts to ask.

Thinking ahead to next year and your keepers, you are giving up a legit 2nd rounder in Votto, a 2nd round pick, plus Granderson, in exchange for McCutchen or Holliday (Matt isn't living up to second/third round status right now), Lee (who will be thrown back into the pool), and Gallardo (who we can only speculate about, but currently is probably retaining 5th/6th round status - are you likely to throw him back?) It really depends on how you value McCutchen and Holliday going forward. You need to be certain in your mind that either of those two will produce top value since you are probably giving up two 2nd round picks in exchange for either of them plus a pitcher you may not keep. I'm kind of neutral on this one. I don't like it or hate it. But if you want McCutchen badly enough, then ask for him without hesitation.

You need pitching obviously, but is Gallardo who you want? I love Gallardo, but I have to admit I have some questions about him. I would pass on Gallardo and see if the guy is dumb enough to give you McCutchen in place of Gallardo. Upton, Holliday, McCutchen = yum, yum. Add in Zimmerman and your four keepers are set.

I think this is a pretty good deal for you. Losing Votto does sting, but getting Gallardo and either Holliday or McCutchen makes up for it. I think your squad might benefit more with having McCutchen on it, so I'd go that route, but I would still take Holliday, so either deal works. Thanks for the help on mine.

I'm really high on Votto, but I think this trade helps you. Your team is weak at SP and OF, and this fills those holes nicely. Lee's BABIP currently is off his career mark, so he should be solid going forward, if unspectacular.

I'm concerned you may be giving too much in 2nd round pick for this, maybe swap 2nd/3rd rounders with him. Votto is performing like late 1st rounder so far, and Granderson is no slouch, probably in the same tier as Holliday. Its basically Lee (who is not great but serviceable) and Gallardo for Votto, which i wouldn't do, and Granderson for Holliday (which i would do, but the pick really kills it for me). Maybe shoot back a counter with a different outfielder (sizemore still has name value with some, even though he probably is going to suck from here on out).

Thanks for helpo with mine.

Asking for McCutchen couldn't hurt, but I doubt the other owner will go for it. I think it's a pretty good deal for you though.
Looking forward to back to back championships in 2011!

I would go Cutch over Holliday too, but if you have to settle for Holliday instead, that still isn't that bad of a prize......Nice Catch
