Pitching Help? WHIR

Postby beats723 » Mon May 24, 2010 3:56 pm

Hey all i am in a standard CBS H2H fantasy league. I am having a hard time choosing my pitchers this week. I had just made a trade for Joe Mauer giving up Roy Oswalt and Jeff Neimann and now it seems to be alot harder for me to choose. Here are my guys in order I was going to start but really uncertain. I start 5 pitchers

SP- Roy Halladay @ FLA (obv must start)
SP- Ricky Romero @ ANA , 2nd game home vs BAL ( obv must start also)
This is where my options are hard for me to choose.
SP- Johnny Cueto home vs PIT (7-2 record 3.30era)
SP- Ryan Dempster home vs LA(6-3 rec 2.52era) and 2nd game vs STL(6-6, 4.35era)
SP- Joe Saunders home vs TOR (2-3, 3.76era) and 2nd game home vs SEA(7-1, 3.06era)
SP- Chad Billingsley @ CHC
SP- Randy Wells home vs LA (0-2 with 1.32 era).
I was going to go in this order from top I am just really worried starting dempster twice against those teams regardless of record and was going have Bilingsley instead he has pitching extremely well getting me solid points. Any opinions greatly appreciated and WHIR

I agree with your top 5 for this week. I don't particularly like Cueto but he's been very solid lately and has a good matchup so I'd agree with starting him. I'm fine with Dempster even against LA and St. Louis. Both starts are at home and he's solid at Wrigley. I actually think he'll have a solid week. Saunders has been solid lately as well and has a good chance at shutting down Toronto, a team that has been terrible against lefties. Seattle's offense is nothing to fear either. Good luck.

I agree with the previous poster. After the first two you list, the remaining starters break down into two categories for me. Two start guys (Dempster & Saunders) & one start guys (Cueto, Billingsley, & Wells).

For most two start pitchers, I will start them as long as their matchups are not horrible (sat Beckett last week because he faced New York & Philly). If Saunder's other matchup was against an elite hitting team, I would probably sit him, since Toronto has been putting good wood on the ball, but its against Seattle, so I say he's a go. I would grade Dempster's matchups as more difficult (LAD & StL) but he's also a much better pitcher, so I would roll with him too.

The last spot is a tossup between Cueto & Billingsley. I think Cueto has a more favorable matchup, but don't discount the Cubs ability to not hit. I'd say the last spot is Cueto with reservations.

I'd go with your top 4 and bills instead of saunders, I'm from L.A. though so I may be a little biased FYI, Bills has so much upside.
