Also sacramento ftw.
Austin is an oasis in Texas. One of the best places to live in America too. Relatively cheap housing (expensive by Texas standards though), university town with its more than fair share of attractive girls, great music scene, and a lot to do there without losing some kind of a small-town feel.

Yup Austin is awesome, been there a couple times and have friends there. I was going to comment on Austin being on the fittest list. It doesn't surprise me at all, it's a much "younger, hipper" city than San Antonio, Houston, or El Paso.
i'm kind of surprised Detroit didnt make the list...seems like all is see is fattys...although maybe the homeless and crackheads help bring the average down

Woah that would be confusing
You'd think so, but that's sort of the beauty of Austin: it's a weird place and folks are proud to say it's a weird place. There are some things about it that are more of a fit with Texan culture (Longhorns football, Tex-Mex restaurants abound) and that balances well with the Bay Area-like vibe about the place. It's also the technology heartland of Texas, which was the big draw for me when I considered moving there a couple of years back.
Only thing I'll nitpick about Austin is the climate. It's the hot/humid Springs and Summers I can't stand.
The fact that Boston is on this list is no accident, everyone either walks everywhere or bikes. But that is due mostly to the fact that the roads are lousy, (so you cannot drive anywhere (and even if you did, you could never park)), and the subway is terrible (it is usually quicker to walk than wait for the T: seriously Cambridge is right next to Brighton, but it would take 1 1/2 hours to go from Harvard to Boston College).
