Howard and Gallardo for Pujols and Ibanez?

Postby MysteriousS » Mon May 24, 2010 1:12 am

I have been offered the following trade in a 12 team standard roto espn league:

My Ryan Howard and Yovani Gallardo,
for his Albert Pujols and Raul Ibanez

My current roster is
Batting
C Ivan Rodriguez, Was C  DTD
C Chris Snyder, Ari C
1B Ryan Howard, Phi 1B
2B Chase Utley, Phi 2B
3B Adrian Beltre, Bos 3B
SS Marco Scutaro, Bos SS
2B/SS Gordon Beckham, CWS 3B, 2B
1B/3B Joey Votto, Cin 1B
OF Adam Dunn, Was 1B, OF
OF Josh Hamilton, Tex OF
OF Nick Swisher, NYY 1B, OF
OF J.D. Drew, Bos OF  DTD
OF Jonny Gomes, Cin OF
UTIL Lance Berkman, Hou 1B
Bench
Grady Sizemore*, Cle OF  DL15
Miguel Montero*, Ari C  DL15
Asdrubal Cabrera*, Cle 2B, SS  DL60
Pitching
Yovani Gallardo, Mil SP
Bobby Jenks, CWS RP
Jonathan Sanchez, SF SP
Randy Wells, ChC SP
Cliff Lee, Sea SP
Ted Lilly, ChC SP
Ricky Romero, Tor SP
Kevin Gregg, Tor RP
Carlos Villanueva, Mil SP, RP
Bench
Trevor Hoffman, Mil RP
Aaron Harang, Cin SP
Brandon Webb*, Ari SP  DL60
Matt Thornton, CWS RP

I currently am in 8th place, doing well in all batting categories except steals, which I have decided to boot, and doing mediocre in all of the pitching categories except K's. Because this is a deeper league, there is not much on the WW pitching wise - Sheets, Chacin, and Vargas are the best of the available bunch.

So Fantasy Baseball forums: any guidance on this trade? I feel like I have to accept a deal that lands me the best player in baseball for two very good ones. I could use the OF help as well. What do YOU think?

Yeah. I mean, any time you're offered the best player in the game, you simply take it. Being honest here, I'm not sure what this guy's motivation behind the trade really is - I'd just happily press the "accept trade" button, smile, and move on with your day.

My concern is of course, that I'll be making my already weak pitching worse, and that Howard is maybe not all that much worse than Pujols.

I know, but, just scour your wires a bit more closely. It's not every day that you get offered a dude like Pujols.

Bump - Sorry to do this, but I'd appreciate a little more input before I make a decision. I only have a few hours left to pull the trigger!
