WHIR - Gallardo/Dotel for Garcia/Leake/Bell

Postby hartmtown » Sun May 23, 2010 9:43 am

Currently #1 in a Yahoo public league. I've been going back and forth with the #4 guy who wants saves. He offered me Gallardo and Qualls for Buchholz, Garcia, and Bell. I've counter-offered with the below and have gotten a verbal agreement:

I give: Mike Leake, Jaime Garcia, Heath Bell
I get: Yovani Gallardo, Octavio Dotel

I'm thinking this is a pretty fair deal I'm stacked with a lot of good not great arms, and I can use another ace like Gallardo. Trading 2 for 1 is fine since I've got Granderson, Street, and De La Rosa all coming back from the DL soon enough. Saves are overrated IMO and Dotel will be solid enough.

My team:

C- Soto, Suzuki
1B - AGonz, Dunn, Papi
2B - Utley
SS- Bartlett
3B - Zimmerman, Young
OF - Crawford, Ethier (DL), Rios, Gutierrez, Granderson (DL)

SP - Haren, Lester, Verlander, Romero, Lilly, Buchholz, Garcia, Marcum, Wilson, Leake, De La Rosa (DL)
RP - Bell, Capps, Lindstrom, Street (DL)

His team:

C-IRod, Montero (DL)
1B- Cabrera, Morales
2B- Callaspo, Lopez
3B- ARod, Wright
SS- Hanley
OF- Choo, Span, Markakis, Ibanez

SP- C. Lee, Gallardo, J. Johnson, Nolasco, Garza, Cueto, E. Santana, Maholm, Vargas
RP - Dotel, Qualls, Corpas, Simon

I like the deal for you. Gallardo is an ace, albeit on the Brewers. Dotel is solid enough to get you saves more often than not. You're giving up some inexpierienced pitchers and a solid closer. I'll Gallardo everyday in this trade.

So after another counter-offer, we're now looking at this:

I get: Gallardo, Dotel
I give: Lilly, Garcia, Bell

I think I still like the deal considering Lilly's been pretty slow coming back from injury. This is the same deal as what I originally proposed to him, with the addition of Garcia.

Thoughts?

Any other thoughts? I'm more hesitant now that Lilly's replaced Leake.

Take this deal and run. I'd rather have an inexperienced but with potential than aging Ted Lilly

Yep, this is a great trade for you and much better than the Bucholz deal.

Like this deal for you. You are selling high on Garcia and to be honest I am not that worried about losing Lilly. I like that you are adding another ace to your staff. Do this move.

I like this deal much better for you i am not sold on Lilly ,you are better off keeping Bucholz
You going to lose in saves department little bit but saves are always are easier to find

I too, like the deal now that it involves Lilly. I really think that Leake will be very solid this year (unless Dusty makes his arm fall off) and Lilly hasn't done anything to put questions about his health to rest.

Thanks for the help with mine.
