Help with finishing off a trade? WHIR

Postby RenT » Fri May 21, 2010 6:15 pm

I'm in a 14 team 5x5 roto keeper league. I'm currently in second to last place, and my team is having a great week and closing in on several categories... it's still a long season so there is time I think. But, it's also a keeper league and it's time for me to also keep one eye on the future also. I'm thinking of offering Matt Holliday and Kevin Youkilis for Robinson Cano and Ubaldo Jimenez (too much? too little? just right?). However, I think I will run into a problem that Cano is really this owner's only second baseman (he has Felipe Lopez as his only other 2B eligible player). So, I'm wondering if anyone thinks they can help me round out a trade offer (I have Jose Lopez and Gordon Beckham who qualify at 2B). I'm thinking if I have to give up a 2B, I should probably ask for something else in return... unless anyone thinks adding the 2B would actually make the trade more fair. Our rosters are below.

Mine:

C V. Martinez
C Snyder
1B Youk
2B J. Lopez
SS E. Aybar
3B Zimmerman
MI A. Gonzalez
CI Luke Scott
OF Holliday
OF Hamilton
OF Markakis
OF Pierre
OF Heyward
Util D. Ortiz
Bench Borbon, Beckham, Hardy, Rowand

Pitchers (start 9): Beckett, Buerhle, J. Santana, Scherzer, Sheets, Pavano, Porcello, Bedard, Gregg, Cordero, C. Perez, C. Silva

His:

C Barajas, Hundley
1B Adrian Gonzalez
2B Cano
SS Bartlett
3B Rolen, Feliz
MI F. Lopez
CI Helton
OF Choo, C. Ross, Kubel, Bay, Gutierrez, Fracouer, Pagan
P (Start 9) Garland, Burnett, C. Lee, Fuentes, Bell, Aardsma, U. Jimenez, R. Wells, Braden, Arroyo, O. Perez, Saunders, Maine, Lannan

Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated. I will be checking frequently so leave a link and I will get to yours ASAP.

Thanks for your help.

The initial trade seems pretty fair to me, but after looking at this for a couple minutes I can't decide how you would add in Lopez to replace his 2B. You should probably discuss the trade with him via email or something and see if he is even interested in a replacement. I think Lopez for a young OF or 3B to strengthen your bench would be good though.

I would see if he bites on Hamilton, Youk and Beckham for Cano and Ubaldo

if not, maybe try Holliday, Youk and Beckham for Cano, Ubaldo and Kubel

You add Lopez and he sends Choo.
