Start Javier Vazquez against the Mets (WHIR)

So here's the scenario

head to had mixed league

5x5

I'm currently dominating him in the power categories. R, HR, RBI. He's got a nice lead in SB and AVG is my .273 to his .282

Pitching is where I'm down. I'm up in K's 26-25. Down in wins 3-1, saves 3-2, ERA 4.50-2.76 and WHIP 1.286-1.009. In all, it's currently 4-6 in his favor.

This guy appears to not be making daily moves as his current starting SS is on the DL, so I'd really like to pull out a win here. If he doesn't make any moves, his final starting pitchers will be Gavin Floyd vs. FLA, Fausto Carmona vs. CIN, and Rick Porcello @ LAD.

Since 2 of his 3 remaining starters have been extremely mediocre thus far, it's a possibility that his ERA jumps with these guys.

I've got the following guys available today and this weekend. Garza, Colby Lewis and Vazquez today. Derek Holland and Wandy tomorrow and Jhoulys Chacin on Sunday.

My original plan was to start Garza and Lewis today, maybe Wandy tomorrow and possibly Chacin on Sunday.
However, I'm starting to think I might want to just give up on my bloated ERA and WHIP and ensure that I get Wins and K's. And just start everybody. Including Vazquez today who actually has a decent matchup.

Sorry for the detailed message, but I really don't know what to do.

honestly, your logic makes sense, and in a lot of cases id say yes, but javy has been so bad for so many starts so far that i dont think he has a very good shot at all at a W, he might throw you a few Ks i guess. my feeling is that you've got several other good starters that give you a legitimate chance at winning WHIP at least if not ERA, you'll have one more start than him anyway to get extra Ks and Ws (two if you start holland, who id take over javy), and really any of his three starters could bring you back in the game, although rick porcello would be my bet. i think you take a slight risk on Ks, sit javy, and trust in your other starters to hold it down while you hope porcello blows up again, because i think with your remaining starters ERA and WHIP are more attainable than you're thinking.

thanks for the help.

good points.

update, as good a matchup as chacin has on sunday, i decided to drop him for John Ely who I'm gonna start tomorrow and if I'm in dire straits, Chacin clears waivers on Sunday and I can pick him up again for his KC start.
