Big Papi / Pierre FAs - Who to Drop? Hit u up in return

Postby LanceDanceRomance » Fri May 21, 2010 9:09 am

This is for a weekly yahoo league, 12 man H2H.

C Matt Wieters
1B Miguel Cabrera
2B Robinson Cano
3B David Freese
SS Troy Tulo
OF B.J. Upton
OF Adam Lind
OF Alex Rios
Util Carlos Pena
BN OF Hunter Pence
BN Scott Podsednik

SP Jon Lester
SP Scott Baker
RP Matt Thornton
RP Tyler Clippard
P Jeff Niemann
P Jake Peavey
P Johnny Cueto
BN Colby Lewis
BN Brad Penny
BN Kevin Correia

So David Ortiz is a FA in my league, my utility man Pena has been slumping (except for two dingers last night) and I am interested in picking up Big Papi to start while Pena is on a cold streak. I do not want to drop Pena, I think he is going to get hot and see no sense in trading him with such low value currently. Having Cabrera at first and Pena at Util I am not sure if it would be worth it to pick up Ortiz. But his .358 BA, 7 home runs, and 17 RBIs in May is hard to ignore in a FA. I would most likely either make a trade or drop Pods in the OF.

Also Juan Pierre is starting to show his stuff and I think it's going to last, is it worth dropping Scotty Pods or Pence for Pierre?

Thanks for the help and don't hesitate to leave a link for me to take a look at.

I would drop Pods for Juan. No space for Ortiz cause he needs 2 bench-spots.
It would be nice to know what you did with our advice - so please write a short reply

I might add Juan for Pods too, but it's SAGNOF either way and probably not a huge deal. I probably wouldn't drop Pena for Ortiz at all though.

Either you're poking fun, or you don't read Razzball. Either way your problems are correctable. ;-D

Steals Ain't Got NO Face. In other words, when it comes to steals you should ignore the name brands and just roster the guys who're actually, you know, stealing bases.

It applies just as equally, and with the same acronym, to saves. Which makes it twice the acronym fun for half the price. ;-D
