CHoo/Feldman for Price/LaPorta?(WHIR)

Postby kidsilk » Thu May 20, 2010 8:21 pm

AL only league, 12 teams, 5 keepers, 5x5 roto, 24 man rosters

I have been offered Shin Shoo Choo and Scott Feldman for My David Price and Matt LaPorta. Is this enough for Price? I have a solid pitching staff and need another OF since I am currently starting LaPorta in the OF and Garrett freaking Atkins at UTI right now. But, I am in fourth place and have a chance to win this year. What do you guys think?

I'd take the deal. i think Price will have a slight regression to the mean and then hit a wall the end of the year. he has never thrown more than 160 IP in a season.

Help with mine:

Agree with above poster. Choo is a solid contributor, Price is a young guy who may flame out at season's end. In my opinion, hitting is generally more valuable than pitching anyway. Do the deal.

I would take this trade and add another outfielder in Choo to your team.

I know everybody is saying to take the deal, but I am a big advocate that David Price is for real. He's always had top of the league pitcher potential and now is showing why everybody hyped him up so much. I also noticed that you have Coco Crisp in your DL spot, I read earlier today he could be back as soon as the Giants series this weekend. That would at least be an upgrade from Garrett Atkins. What does your free agency pool look like? These are all things I would consider before dealing Price. You also might be able to counter offer and get a better pitcher in return than Feldman. All that said, I like Choo and think he is a solid outfielder who definitely won't hurt you in your batting categories.

Thanks for your help!

It's not a bad deal, though I would see if you can get a better OF. I, like the last post, really like Price and believe he is for real, however, his innings will be limited so whether he fades or not, he might be of much use to you down the stretch, so trading him now while his value is high makes sense. However, I'm not a fan of Feldman, so I'd see if you could get something better in return. I do like you getting Choo though. Thanks for the help with mine.
