I am thinking about trading away Pujols straight up for Ryan Braun. Is this smart, or is it a fair trade?
I would have to find someone to play CI, but my outfield stinks right now and I have A-Go to move over to first base
10 team league, h2h with normal 5x5 stats plus OBP, doubles, QS, k/9. Also is a keeper league where we keep 8 players.
My team: C. V-mart 1b: Pujols 2b: Cano SS: Tulowitski MI: Scutaro CI: A-Gonzalez OF: Quentin OF: C. Young OF: Pence OF: R. Davis Util: Smoak Bench: Willingham DL: Ellsbury
Intriguing deal... However, I agree that Pujols cannot be traded straight up for anyone. If you could pull Braun and a decent 1B to replace Pujols, that's a different story. Trading Pujols might haunt you for a long long time.
This is a lot to give obviously. You do have A-go, and this will really strengthen your OF. However, Pujols will be one of the top hitters for the next 4-5 years. Also, this is the first year with some real protection (Holliday).
Since you are in a Keeper League...I would make that trade and nab R.Braun. Braun is younger and is rated #2 hitter in my Yahoo League. I have A.Pujols on my team. I would trade him for Braun. This season...Braun is really outperforming in. Factor that in with his age...and you have my reasons.
However...Pujols is a beast. I would only trade him for Braun...and maybe E.Longoria. I am not dogging Pujols.
Problem with this strategy is yes in a keeper league it may be a valid argument that braun for pujols is a good deal however I believe someone especially one that thinks this puts him over the top this year will give you more perhaps upgrading another position and give you a suitable replacement for pujols... hell throw in an outfielder on your team you dont care much for
I was about to trade Pujols for Hanley, Cano, and Billingsley, but someone beat me to accepting it. So I don't think that Pujols is untradeable. BUT, you should be able to get more for Pujols. Even if he just throws in a 2nd OF or CI.
No, can not give up Pujols straight up for Braun in any league. At what point is Braun going to be better than Pujols? 4, 5 years? Too long to wait even in a keeper.
