Scott, Gomes or both? - WHIR

Postby soty » Thu May 20, 2010 1:07 pm

Hey guys I am probably going to be dropping Justin Smoak for Clay Buchholz using my #1 waiver to do so, but I have another question regarding my offense. Both Luke Scott (1B,OF) and Johnny Gomes (OF) are avaialbe and are both tearing the cover off of the ball right now. Would you drop anyone on my team for one of them or both? I was leaning towards dropping Ibanez fwiw. Here is my team and settings. Leave a link and I will help you as always. ;-D

FYI another guy I have been watching is Nate McLouth. He is a free agent as well.

I wouldn't drop Ibanez for Scott or Gomes. Not big on McClouth either. I would maybe drop Quentin for Scott. Other than that I think you are better staying with what you have.

Ibanez is struggling but hits in a great ballpark with a great lineup around him.

Thanks for the help with mine.

Yeah, I've cut the cord with Quentin recently...he just can't seem to get it together. Plus it's been a year and a half from his breakout year with nothing much to show during that span. If you really wanna grab Scott, I'd drop Quentin. Also keep in mind that Scott is very streaky, so if he starts to fizzle, don't hesitate to find someone else.

thanks for the help with mine.

I wouldn't pick up either of those guys. I especially wouldn't drop Ibanez. Long-term, Ibanez has tons more value than Scott or Gomez. Especially, with a limit on transactions, I wouldn't recommend chasing to many guys on "hot-streaks."

I do agree with the other guys that if you feel like absolutely have to pick one of those guys up, i would drop Quinten. But he has had a couple of 3-hit games in the last week or so (of course, he's had sever 0'fers, too). So he just might be turning it around. If I were drafting tofay, I would still have Quinten ranked higher than either Scott or Gomes.

Actually, I would even have McLouth ranked higher than Scott and Gomes if I were drafting today....but I don't suggest that you pick up McLouth, either.

Keep in mind....I've never played in an H2H league...so I might be missing something in my analysis.

If you really want to pick up one of those guys, I would pick up Scott over Gomes. Unlike the other people above, I probably wouldn't drop Quentin; he's got too much upside. I'm not a fan of Brennan, so personally I would drop him if you wanted to make a change.

Thanks gain for helping with my question!
