Replace Posada with who???

Postby oldmanbean » Thu May 20, 2010 11:11 am

Available in my league (in order of points, CBS)

Snyder, Pudge, Zaun, Kendall, Cervelli.

Will Snyder maintain at-bats when Montero returns?

Cervelli has the best average, but will the Yankees bring up someone from AAA to split duties???

NOTE: I will drop Laird, not Posada!

12 team points keeper league.
15 hitters, 10 pitchers.
1 point per TB, bb = 1, r = 1, rbi = 2, sb = 2, cs = -1
IP = 1, K = 1, W = 10, QS = 5, S = 5, BS = -5,L=-5,ER=-2,BB=-1
We start 1 at each position plus an EH. 6 pitchers, weeekly lineups

C G Laird 2, J Posada 5
1B M Cabrera 24, C Pena 11
2B K Johnson 7, B Roberts 19
3B A Ramirez 20, R Zimmerman 8
SS E Andrus 5, J Rollins 16
OF C Coghlan 5, J Damon 6, H Pence 10, C Rasmus 7, N Swisher 4
P B Anderson 12, H Bell 4, F Carmona 3, J Hammel 2, J Hellickson 5
I Kennedy 2, C Lee 15, B Matusz 8, J Niemann 6, A Wainwright 10

Doubtful.

I doubt it- if the Yanks bring anyone up, I suspect it'll be another OF, since they basically have no bench players there with Granderson on the DL, and Swisher and now Thames battling minor injuries. They also have no regular DH without Johnson.

I don't think there's a huge difference between any of the catchers you listed, but I'd be inclined to go with Cervelli.

They just brought up Moeller. Also,Cervelli has no arm, TB 6-6 last night in SBs. But, he is hitting the best of those.

Thanks for the reply.

I'd actually go Cervelli here, with pudge a close second, because I think Cervelli will become overexposed but has the lineup protection.

Help with mine:

they called up Moeller but he's not gonna be in the active lineup soon.
Cervelli will give you nice .AVG and some good RBI-production.
He is a worth addition for the 2-3 weeks missing Posada.
It would be nice to know what you did with our advice - so please write a short reply

I like Cervelli. With Posada out for a few weeks he is your guy imo.

I've picked up Cervelli myself recently, I'd get him. The BABIP is unsustainable, but the ZiPS rest of season projection has him hitting a healthy triple slash of .282/.337/.423 which I'd take from a catcher any day. Those projections might be a bit optimistic, but there is no reason (and no one else worth getting) that you shouldn't give Cervelli a shot.

Yeah, agree to that - he is not or will not be a very good Catcher in the long term but he is an useful replacement for Posada.

Well, as long as he stays there the whole year. I don't want to waste a precious waiver on him if he won't be around come September.

Thanks for the help!
