I'm curious how people would rank 3B for the rest of the year. I'm especially interested to hear what people think about Chase Headley and Alberto Callaspo, and how they stack up. My team has started off very strong, but I'm trying to decide whether to try and upgrade at 3B. I'm not looking for specific team advice here (I'd post in trade forum for that), but general thoughts on how 3B will shake out for the rest of the season.
"The game has a cleanness. If you do a good job, the numbers say so. You don't have to ask anyone or play politics. You don't have to wait for the reviews." - Sandy Koufax
This leaves guys like Sandoval, Zimmerman, Young, and Ramirez off the list. I think 3B is a position that depends a lot on injury or maybe more so lack of injury. Guys like Aramis Ramirez, Chipper Jones, and Scott Rolen could all have top 10 numbers if they can stay on the field. I firmly expect Headley's power to go up some while his avg stats to decrease but I think he'll have value going forward as he seems much more comfortable at his natural 3B position. Callapso is a good utility player that I genuinely think is playing over his head. I mean he's maybe 5'9 175-180 lbs and currently supplying power numbers, which I don't think will last as he's not built slugger. His minor league numbers say he can maintain his avg stats but he's currently hitting 6th, which is a testament to his season start but also the lackluster Royals. Anyways, I expect the 3B rankings to change drastically as the season continues with the true creme rising to the top.
