Carpenter for Uggla?

Postby garf112 » Wed May 19, 2010 2:22 pm

The only other players on his team that I might ask for are Mauer, Vernon Wells, Abreu and Jason Bay. Would Carp for Uggla be something you would do? My hitting is close to the worst in the league and pitching is the best in the league.

You have a solid 2B...I think you need OF help more. Don't thin Uggla maintains his BA and is not worth an ace.

thanks. it is actually an OBP league, forgot to add that in there. Can you consider having Mike Aviles and Cliff Pennington at SS/MI solid?

No way I'd do that deal. First of all, Uggla is a Sell High property right now- it's highly unlikely he finishes the season with a BA over .280. His ceiling is basically what you expected from Kinsler on Draft Day. Sure, he's an update over Aviles, but he won't contribute in SB (something you usually look for in your MI guys) and could really wind up hurting your BA.

Carpenter is a top 10 (maybe 15) pitcher, who should command real value in return. I'd look to upgrade your OF- you've got 2 big question marks in Sizemore (borderline droppable) and Hart (streaky), and Quentin and Matsui are really struggling.

Carpenter is a good ace. Uggla would be a good pick up given that he does play in a weak 2B position. 2B is hard to fill. I don't know what state Kinsler is in but if you are in need to fill you 2B poisition then yes do it while Uggla is red hot.

But I think you should be fine with Kinsler. Carpenter would be safe enough to let go because you have Halladay and Zambrano will be back in the rotation. Halladay is the anchor of your rotation. If the other owner is in need of an ace then try going for Mauer. That would be big upgrade over Suzuki.

i wouldnt ever consider that deal. If SP is your strength, then dont neccessarily corrupt it. I would shop heyward around even though hes mashing. His brand name makes his trade value much higher then his regular value. for your other question, avilles i like but not too fond of pennington. Maybe some WW help is needed.

There's no way I would do that... Like someone else said, try to see if Heyward can get you something big in return... Matusz is another option, as people tend to go ga-ga over young pitchers in keeper/dynasty leagues.

I agree you may need some hitting help, but giving up Carpenter isn't the way to go...Try to do a 2 for 1 deal to enhance your MI or OF
