Is this a decent counter? WHIR

Postby guyincognito » Wed May 19, 2010 8:59 am

I was just offered Josh Johnson and Aramis Ramirez for my Ryan Dempster, Johan Santana and Raul Ibanez. I'm thinking that's a little much since I'm looking to improve my SP, not weaken it. However, I don't mind dealing Ibanez or Dempster, and I'd love to get Johnson, so what do you think of this as a counter?:

give - Dempster, Romero and Ibanez
get - J.Johnson and A.Ramirez

Would that be a fair counter? I already tried Dempster and Penny for Johnson which triggered the Dempster/Johan offer. And if he doesn't go for Romero would you consider putting Oswalt in the offer?

Thanks. Leave a link and WHIR.

I think its fair. I actually like the 2 pitchers yuo are giving up, but in yuor league its worth it, and I'd take Ramirez over Ibanez.

Help with mine?

The original trade isnt that bad, I might consider it alone, but yeah subbing Romero (or Oswalt) in Johan's stead would be ideal. If you made this trade, got an extra roster spot, what kind of pitcher could you pick up via FA? Almost have to factor that into the trade as well.

Thanks,

I think I'd rather make the offer with Oswalt over Romero to be honest. While Roy has indicated a willingness to be traded, I think he'll be stuck on the flailing Astros while the Jays seem to be clicking along.

I was just about to post the same thing. Ricky I think will outperfom Oswalt by the end of the year and might as and try to sell high on Oswalt's good numbers (even tho he gets few W's)
