My buddy and I are having a huge argument about his decision to sit Chase Headley last night. We are in a Head to Head 10 batter league with R/HR/RBI/SB/BA/OBP and he left the OF position open and sat both Headley and Sizemore. He said he had a hunch that Headley would continue his 6-7 game struggle against a good pitcher like Matt Cain. My point is that while he is more likely than usual to not have a great game, 1. 6-7 games can be explained by variance and he is not necessarily in a streak worth noting and 2. Even if he went 0-4, the chance of him losing BA or OBP becuase of 1 bad game is minimal while the chances of him having R/HR/RBI/SB decided by 1 or 2 is much greater. I told him that despite his hunch, it was not worth it do this on a Monday when you don't know what will matter on Sunday and that there is little risk for some reward.
What do you guys think?
