Can someone explain to me what happened to him? I dont know the history of his collapse over the last year

He can't throw his slider for strikes so he is stuck on throwing his mediocre fastball along with his mediocre change up combination. Which is sort of effective the first time through teams lineups but the 2nd time through the lineup word is out amongst the batters that he has abandoned his slider so just look for the change and crush him. He is just not very good, plain and simple.

Well, keep in mind what you are describing is a legit relief arsenal. There was talk that Kazmir could be moved to closer due to his lack of durability when he was with TB. Not saying that is the case but stranger things have happened and former elite closers (Hoffman & Foulke) have done more with less.
