My Sizemore/Castro/Contreras for Granderson/Beckham/Rodney?

Postby sigriffey » Mon May 17, 2010 2:37 pm

Sizemore is sucking it up, Castro is nice but I have Jeter, and Contreras is... eh. I have an open roster spot and another coming, so I could pick up replacements on the wire.

Do this deal?

Give: Grady Sizemore, Starlin Castro and Jose Contreras
Get: Curtis Granderson, Gordon Beckham and Fernando Rodney

I hate Grady, he is over rated. I like Granderson and Beckham and if Granderson is back soon I say its not a bad deal. The walks are better with Curtis, triples should be and alot more runs. I say yes.

I really think you should do this deal.

Sizemore is playing too badly to care about losing, Castro doesn't have anything besides his debut, and Contreras is only temporary, whereas you get Granderson, who is coming back soon, Beckham, who has a lot of upside, and Rodney, one of the best set up men in the league with one of the best chances of taking over the closing role from the oft-struggling Fuentes.

I hate Granderson - can never hit lefties. And Sizemore is just too good to be this bad for so long. I would hold onto him a little longer and see if he gets things turned around, because when he is on he is one of the best OF fantasy options in the game IMO. Everyone else in the deal is of medicore value, except maybe Rodney but he isn't even closing so unless holds are a part of your league I say stand pat

This is a tricky one to me. I would vote yes because I think Granderson is better than Sizemore, regardless of if he has been on the DL. To me they're the key of this trade.

Rodney is solid and got me saves earlier this year, I just don't know if he'll get the chance at a bunch of more saves. However, you would be selling Contreras at his absolute highest value IMHO. I think Contreras has a minimal chance of keeping his start up, regardless if he's closing or just a middle reliever.

Living in Chicago and being a Sox fan, I have seen a lot of Gordon Beckham (going back to his days at Georgia). He looks to be a mess and there have been a few mumbles about him going down to the minors to try and find his swing. He just doesn't seem to have the confidence he had last year. He truely looks awful at the plate. I think you'd be losing on the Castro/Beckham part of this trade but those are just complimentary pieces in this trade.

I would rather do Granderson and Rodney for Sizemore and Contreras but I would still do the trade in question.
