Victor Martinez on Waivers, drop Wieters for him? WHIR

I'm pretty sure that this is a no brainer...I just can't figure out why Martinez is on waivers. I know he's been struggling be I was pretty sure he's a top tier catcher. Plus he has 1B eligibility. My roster at the moment is below. I should pull the trigger right? I'm first on waiver priority so its not a problem. Relatively shallow league I suppose. Other guys on the wire are Zobrist, Lind, Stewart, Alex Gonzalez, and Rasmus. Anyone there I should pick up?

10 Team H2H 5x5

C: Matt Wieters
1B: Carlos Peña
2B: Rickie Weeks
3B: David Wright
SS: Hanley Ramirez
OF: Andrew McCutchen
OF: Matt Holliday
OF: Adam Dunn
Util: Brandon Phillips
Bench: Michael Bourn
DL: Brian Roberts (went undrafted, thought I'd stash him...however I have Phillips and Weeks who have been performing well)

SP: Cliff Lee, Matt Garza, David Price, Tommy Hanson, Jaime Garcia, CJ Wilson, and Jeff Francis
RP: Joakim Soria, Jon Rauch, Carlos Marmol, Kevin Gregg

Yes! He is struggling but he is an elite player. 2nd to 3rd rounder. Jump on this, no brainer.

Since all your other positions seem pretty set, I'd go ahead and grab Martinez. I think he'll do better than Wieters just because of his experience in the big leagues. Plus, his time at 1B should help keep him fresh.

VMart is one of 3 elite cathcers. Weiters maybe someday, but he isn't now. I'd do it in a second.

I now call this POS Vicky Martinez. What a bust thus far but he's a better turd than Weiters.

Yes, definitely pick up VMart. Maybe see if you can trade Weiters for something else too...Good luck!

+1

This is definitely an easy choice. Waiver claim Victor Martinez for sure and replace Wieters with him.
I'm high on Wieters, but you're in such a shallow league with very few roster spots so I'd cut him lose in those circumstances in favor of Martinez.

You've got plenty of talent on your waiver wire for sure. Of those you mentioned, I am highest on Ian Stewart. Having both 2B and 3B eligibility is a nice bonus. But I'm not sure who you would drop to add Stewart. One of your pitchers maybe. I have a hard time evaluating shallow leagues these dyas, as I've been in a deep league for years now.

And this would be the reason I dont play in Public leagues. No way any idiot should drop VMart for any reason unless he is hurt and out for the season in a single year league.

Hard to believe that Lind and Zobrist are just sitting there. Even if it's a shallow league, I wouldn't let go of Wieters. You should drop Jeff Francis instead... Jeff Francis should not be owned in a 10 team mixed league.
