Too much to ask for? whir

Postby Elsy » Sun May 16, 2010 8:04 pm

Just acquired King Felix to go along with Roy Halladay and Tim Lincecum. Just wondering as I am off to a slow start in my 12 team 12 man keeper should I consider dealing Halladay for multiple younger talent?

Idea #1:
Give - Halladay/Alexei Ramirez
Get - Tommy Hanson/Elvis Andrus/Francisco Rodriguez

Roster:

C - McCann
1B - Prince Fielder
2B - Aaron Hill
3B - Ryan Zimmerman
SS - Alexei Ramirez
OF - Nelson Cruz/Jose Bautista/Jeff Franceour
UTIL - David Freese/David Ortiz
BN - Casey McGehee/John Buck/Brett Wallace
DL - Jacoby Ellsbury/Carlos Gomez

SP - Roy Halladay/Tim Lincecum/Felix Hernandez/Ryan Dempster/Ben Sheets/Dontrelle Willis/Gio Gonzalez
RP - Jonathon Broxton/Leo Nunez/Alfredo Simon(drop)
DL - Ryan Madson

That's pretty decent for a keeper league haul, in my opinion. Hanson's going to be a stud pitcher down the road, Andrus is coming along nicely, and F-Rod is who he is. I see no problem there.

Any advice on mine?

i think that's good value. i'd like to see you upgrade a little more than andrus, but that would involve giving up someone else

Thanks for the help.

I agree with this previous post. I think it is a nice deal for you, as I am not sold on Alexi making it back (just call it a hunch). However, it would be ice to get slightly more at SS than Andrus. But if that is as far as he will go, I would make that deal.

I offered this out to him. Still waiting to hear back, Hanson is the key and Andrus (who I think will be a top 3 or 4 SS) is icing. I'm certainly not just going to trade Roy for the sake of trading him, just want to see what offers come in that suit some of my other needs now that I have King Felix and Timmy. If nothing works I'll be happy and keep Doc and have the best 1-2-3 combo in my league.

I like that trade a lot for you. You don't NEED Halladay as you have other aces already, but Hanson is also an up and coming Ace anyways. He will be very good for a long time. Andrus is the same way, he will steal tons of bases for a long time. And K rod is a solid closer who will give you decent ratios and good save numbers.

to reiterate what everyone else has said, I'd definitely feel comfortable making this trade. You get a couple really good young players + a high-end RP for Halladay & a younger player who I really don't see returning to the hype from his rookie year.

While Halladay is possibly the best pitcher in baseball, you definitely have the SP depth to do this and with King Felix, Lincecum and the addition of Hanson, you have the potential to have a really young SICK staff.

Thanks for the help on mine.

Like the others have said...I like this trade for you. You have more than enough SP depth to make this move and help yourself down the road. I think Ramirez is going to have a tough time living up to the hype as well. Would have been nice to get more in return at the SS position, but I'd make this move.
