Hunter Pence or Josh Hamilton for Mariano Rivera

Postby The_Idiot » Sun May 16, 2010 6:35 pm

I don't really have much use for Rivera as I have all but punted saves.

I get Pence. I give Rivera.

I like Hunter Pence, but still think I could do better for Rivera. How about for Josh Hamilton instead of Pence?

Looking at my staff, would it make more sense to look for a top pitcher? I think that may be a little easier to swing than a bat. (Bad pun)

even though u have punted which is basically giving up it doesnt mean u give players away.Pence is a below average outfielder.u can do alot better than pence for rivera in my opinion

is your keyboard broken or something? Pence is not a below average OF...but you can get a better return for Rivera even after today's disaster. :-D

Thanks.

I rejected Pence and he upped his offer to Josh Hamilton. Is this enough?

I think you vastly underestimate the difference between having 2 closers (Rivera/Simon/maybe another pickup soon) and having just one shaky one. If you ship off Rivera, that's 25ish saves you'll be losing out on which could end up being 5 standings points when all is said and done. I wouldn't be so quick to move him unless you are getting back a lower tier closer along with an upgrade.

If you're going to trade Rivera, I think you cvan do better than the oft-injured Hamilton.

Personally, I'd hold only Rivera unless you're blown away by an offer for him. Closers lose their jobs all the time, and I suggest you try to pick one up when this happens.
