Big trade, keeper league, Lester/Wright invovled

Postby bazzy_51 » Sun May 16, 2010 5:13 pm

Hey all, this is from my 18-team h2h points based league. Its a keeper and we keep 5 (no position or other restrictions at all on keepers) year to year. I have turned this team around, thus far, in one short offseason (16th place finish last year, leading my division this year and up 4-1 in my 5 matchups this week.) We have 4 divisions and play 5 matchups a week.

Scoring:
Scoring for Batting Categories
1B - Singles 1 point
2B - Doubles 2 points
3B - Triples 3 points
BB - Walks (Batters) 1 point
CS - Caught Stealing -1 point
CYC - Hitting for the Cycle 10 points
E - Errors -2 points
HP - Hit by Pitch 1 point
HR - Home Runs 4 points
R - Runs 1 point
RBI - Runs Batted In 1 point
SB - Stolen Bases 1.5 points
SF - Sacrifice Flies .5 points

Scoring for Pitching Categories
BBI - Walks Issued (Pitchers) -1 point
BS - Blown Saves -4 points
CG - Complete Games 7 points
ER - Earned Runs -1 point
INN - Innings 1 point
K - Strikeouts (Pitcher) 1 point
L - Losses -4 points
NH - No-Hitters 20 points
PG - Perfect Games 30 points
PKO - Pick Offs 1 point
S - Saves 7 points
SO - Shutouts 10 points
W - Wins 7 points

Trade offered to me:
I Give: David Wright and Wade Davis
I Get: Jon Lester and Jason Werth
I really like this deal for two reasons. I have Zimmerman at 3B also (currently my UTIL slot) so I can move him to 3B, throw Werth into my UTIL slot and pick up a top teir young arm. Two Wade most likely will have a IP cap on him still this year, so I'm trying to get as much value for him now, before he gets shut down and I can't get anything for him. Also I think this sets my keepers up very well with now having 2 top tier keeper SP, then filling out the final 3 slots with my top 3 bats at the end of the year. My only concerns are if, a. Werth keeps up his pace hes on now (I know hes a pretty decent option for 30.20) and b. when/if Lester will pick it back up and become the pitcher he was last year...

I really like this deal for you especially because of the upgrade you will get at the SP position. Lester is too good and has looked better as of late and should be a top 10 pitcher by the end of the year. Davis will have a cap and is an ok option but Lester is heads above. Plus I think Werth and Wright are basically a wash with you getting a slight upgrade in Werth. I don't think Werth will keep up this pace but he will surely hit 30 HR and steal 20 bases which I can't say the same for WRight although he has looked good so far. But, I would rather have Werth overall. I think you win this deal on both ends and I would definitely do it.

please help my two posts(the one about me trading Werth and the following link) thanks man, you always give good insight

Thanks for the help on mine. I like the trade for you especially in such a deep league you get two solid players. Davis could be good, but not proven like Lester or Werth. ;-D
