Should I drop Matt Lindstrom or Ryan Franklin for Jose Contreras? It's a Rotissere league.

I'm leaning towards Franklin because of the lack of K's and earned runs. I feel like Contreras will get some save opps and has a chance to be the permanent closer for a loaded while Lidge is on the DL.

Why would you just drop either one of them? Isn't there a trade to be worked out? How does this benefit you? You are just giving away a closer for free for someone else to scoop up. Neither Franklin nor Lidstrom are threatened at the moment. So why the need to drop either in exchange for a 90-year old veteran who is pitching over his head and only got the job by default?

One of my faults as a fantasy owner is trying to jump on players with a high upside. I see Contreras high K/BB rate, WHIP, and ERA and I think that if he gets into the closer role for Philly, he could be VERY valuable. But you're definitley right as to those two not being threatened at all and it'd be very risky.

If you can work out a trade for Lindstrom or Franklin to help you out at another position and then pick up Contreras i would say do it, he should have a lot of save opportunities with the Phillies. However his job is likely temporary so I wouldn't outright drop either of your closers for him.
