morales trade, keeper league, WHIR

Postby Alexs » Sat May 15, 2010 2:19 am

I get andruw jones, matt lindstrom, strasburg

I give matusz and kendry morales

i know kendry has the most value now, but lindstrom would bolster my bullpen giving me 3 guys with 9 saves, good era whip and k/9.
obviously i'm banking on strasburg being similar to hanson last year. am i still giving up too much though?

this is a keeper league we keep 4 each year

You are giving up too much. Andruw Jones won't keep this up and the Strasburg hype train is building and pushing up his value with each minor league start. Losing Morales would hurt your hitting a good deal and Matusz is a fine young pitching talent in his own right.

In a 4 man keeper league I don't see you hanging onto Strasburg unless he lights the world on fire...though most people seem to expect that at this point.

overpay IMO. Morales and Matusz are fine keepers in their own right and Andruw will likely falter. Maybe if he'd take Main instead of Matuzs... But Morales is still a big prize to give up.

Pass. Matusz and Morales are too good for that package of players.

Agreed, Stras is tempting, but he hasn't pitched a major league inning. You're giving up two great young players with bright futures, not worth it IMO

I would not give up Morales to get Strasburg. I'd want the hitter. Matusz could quite well be close to a keeper himself. I think you're giving up way to much for someone that might only help you 1/2 a year this year to maybe not at all. If you have no chance at all then maybe giving up Morales to get someone like Strasburg is still OK, but I still think that would be overypaying.
